The Family Reunion

I just returned from a wild and amazing weekend spent with my wild and amazing family. We gathered the three corners of Washington as well a place in California to meet at the Parents house and celebrate Fathers Day. I'm not exaggerating when I mentioned wild. You see, even though most of our heritage is of the Finnish descent, from our loud obnoxious behaviour, you would think we were just a bunch of Italians.

My sister and I came without husbands and kids, which is not uncommon for me this time of year. The summer is the husbands busy season so taking time off when he is buried with work has never fit into his schedule. Our family vacations happened in the spring. With this being said, my sister has become my summer playmate.

It was great seeing two out of three of my brothers. My eldest brother was on trek with his family. Just an, Oh by the way, that had never appealed to me. I don't need to pretend I'm a pioneer to appreciate what they did. No, I never signed up to push a handcart in a dress and live in the great outdoors, I like my modern day comforts thank you.

Allow me to introduce you to my family: This is my hip father with his two daughters and daughter in laws.
                                                                          My Mama:
                                        The fantastic four:
The cousins doing what kids do best:
The three little ones were running around somewhere. Wait, here they are:

The parents church service is in the afternoon which gave us plenty of time to gather together and spend some quality time.....not reading scriptures, but playing a dice game ten thousand. We're spiritual like that. Let me add, I slammed that game right up to the cutting edge of needing to leave for church and having to get ready. My sister came in second.
We even had a little visitor peeking in to see what the commotion was all about.

I can't think of a better way to honor my father than to have been all together. It truly was an amazing time, but then again, I truly have an amazing family!
