Popcorn popping

We'll take a jumbo popcorn, no butter, a cup with ice and a diet please. Juggling the heaping bag of popcorn with a cup of ice I'll head over to the water fountain to fill my cup. Once the husband and I settle into the seats we begin munching while waiting for the movie to start.

It's not like we are hungry or anything, you don't have to be to buy movie popcorn. Heck the smell alone makes you crave it, even on a full stomach. So a jumbo it is. We share it but even at that I'm confident we could down our own bag.

With the husband out of town I needed a date for a movie I've been wanting to see. It wasn't something he would have been interested in but I knew a couple of kids who would be.

Frozen was the movie and the kids were my 5 and 3 year old neighbors.  As movies go, and Frozen was no different, we each got a bag of popcorn and a drink. I had the kids get a small bag, it looked like it would be plenty for them and I even refrained myself and settled for a medium.

We found ourselves some seats, got comfortable, I in the middle with one sitting on each side of me, and began watching the previews.

As I looked over at each of the kids, I saw the five year old holding her bag on her lap staring at the screen in somewhat of a zombie state not even touching her popcorn. But going on the other side of me, was the three year old chowing on his popcorn.

I'm thinking to myself, now thats a boy after my own heart, he knows how to eat popcorn.

So there we sat, the three of us, and only one was not the slightest bit interested in what was sitting on her lap. I was half tempted to grab her bag and show her how it's done, but I had to respect the fact that she is more of a lady than I'll ever be so I left well enough alone and drooled in silence.

The next time I take these kids to the show, I'll be sure to get a jumbo for me and one for the three year old, as he has definitely proven himself to be worthy.

Is that all gonna fit in their stomach? hahaha... You are so funny. I like your date substitute. You are a sport to take the neighbour' s kids to the movie.
Have a great weekend.
Hugs,
JB

We love popcorn in our family too! We get a large and then refill it halfway through the movie, or at the end and take a full bucket home. One time my mom took my kids to a movie and didn't get any popcorn and the boys were so confused and that's all they could say when they got home- "We didn't even have popcorn Mom!" Haha. Lucky kids to have you as a neighbor!

You are a woman after my own heart. Popcorn is a MUST at the theater and the jumbo tub is the only way to go. I love that you take your little neighbors to the movies with you, how sweet.

Ha! My hubs and I just saw a movie, and while we got the jumbo popcorn, I think most of it ended up with him, which is fine with me. I got to drink the whole Diet Dr. Pepper.

Ah,sweet kids. We went to see Frozen by ourselves. It was cute and my favorite character was the snowman. We do share the popcorn / no butter. Can't get past the aroma... yum.

Loved Frozen and the soundtrack as well. Darling post. Isn't it amazing that the kiddos don't even notice the food. I laughed when you discussed your order. That is usually mine. I am on a diet and went to a movie yesterday with my son. Can I tell you how hard it was to sip water and my diet bar instead of the delicious popcorn that my son was holding?

Ahh, too funny!

I find that if I can resist the first kernel, I'm okay. Once I try that first one, I'm a goner. It's a conspiracy!
