The second Thursday of every month a group of girls and I play Bunko. It's not really about rolling dice and rotating tables but more of a social get together full of silliness, laughter, excessive talking and more laughter.
The girls are all young moms ranging in their early thirties and under making me the old lady of the group, they seriously could be my daughters. Since I watched half of them grow up I practically feel like their second mom, which is why I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to introduce my son's wife to them.
It was such an ideal way for her to meet and interact with girls her same age especially where topics of birth stories, child rearing, shopping, motherhood and what ever else they think to talk and laugh about. With 12 woman under one roof the conversation is never lacking.
My intention was to lay low and let my daughter in law mix and mingle but instead, my thoughts of sugar plumbs and new friends for her went by the way side when my son and his family moved.
My decision to stay committed to the group, even with my daughter in law gone, was a no brainer. It's hard enough finding subs to fill in, let alone a full time replacement. Naturally I couldn't abandon them.
February's game night was the Thursday before Valentines day. The host used the upcoming romantic weekend to her advantage by giving out pretty little panties as gifts. There are a total of five prizes. The one with the most wins, losses, bunkos, travelers and the tie breaker.
I love a good win but was relieved I didn't fall into any of those categories. But to my surprise she accidentally bought six gifts leaving the rest of us none winners to roll the dice matching the number she was thinking in her head.
As luck would have it, I won. The girls all cackled and giggled as the last package of panties were tossed my way. Now those little pretties have no business on a fifty-two year old bum so of course I declined.
Let one of the youngins' take the prize but the girls wouldn't spare me. With a twinkle in their eyes they just laughed and said to let the husband be the judge.
Ha! Those girls, I'm grateful they think I'm worthy, but I'm wondering what I've gotten myself into.

This is hilarious. You're not old yet, I bet you your husband will have a twinkle in his eye when he has the last word, lol...
Thanks for the good laugh on this very snowy day here in Fredericton.
Stay with the group, they'll keep you young.
Hugs,
JB
So...did your husband approve? :) Sounds like a fun group!
I'm with the "did your husband like them?" group....that's funny. And you know, young fifties isn't old, in fact it's all how you feel.
I remember thinking 30 was old...and then 40, and now 50+

What fun! And I love that game, too~
Fun times. Don't you just love girl time? Seriously it's not about what your are doing it's about the time spent together laughing and sharing.
Inquiring minds what to know what hubby's reaction was to your gift.
