The Graduate landed a job after college and is now certified to handle all of your financial needs, but that's not all he landed. He's taken to the air by working on his pilot license so he can become a certified pilot as well.
Being the loving mother that I am, I accepted his invitation to fly with him in a small little airplane barely big enough to fit me and my purse let alone two large men in the cockpit.
It's true, I'm deathly afraid of heights and appreciated the available barf bag had I a need to use it, but as it turned out, the boy is a smooth operator and handled the rickety little plane with ease. My nerves relaxed and I actually enjoyed the ride and the view, although I kept myself distracted by texting the husband every step of the way giving him a play by play of the young pilots maneuvers.
He practiced his short field takeoffs and landings and I'm confident if there were only a grassy field to bring the plane down he could land it there too.
I later found out the visor he wore was not to keep the suns glare out of his eyes but to block his vision all together so he can rely solely on the planes instruments. Yeah, glad that information was shared after we landed.

What a proud mama you must be... brave too..... lol. ;O)
Oh, my goodness! You are a very brave, loving and sweet mom. Wonderful accomplishments he has made I know you must be very proud of him. Hugs
You should be so proud! The plane ride looks very beautiful. I have to admit I was a little afraid for you because of the size of the plane. (If it had been my boy...I would have overcome my fear too).
This truly is living outside the box. Love it!
is it just me, or is that plane pretty retro-chic inside? :)
sounds like fun! you'll can tell people you're taking your own "private jet" places and it won't be too much of a stretch...
How neat for him! Not sure that I could have taken that plane ride, no matter how skilled the pilot. Heights and small planes do not get along with me-
Years ago when my brother was building up hours, I flew with him in a small plane myself. Whoa, did it take a lot of courage, but I wanted to offer him my support. What an experience. Congratulations to YOU and your son. :)
Wow? What a good mom. I'm not sure I could have done it!
Sandy
You are a brave mamma. Good job to you and your son.
You are a wonderful mother. No way would you ever get me in one of those small planes.
Well that is it! I am nominating you for mother of the year award. You are one brave MAMA!
So cool! Well done for overcoming your nerves and Congrats to The Graduate :-)
ACK!!!!
It's a good thing that he didn't tell you before hand, but the question..............will you get in the plane with him again?
You are so cute!
wow! You get momma points. I bet you were nervous and proud all at the same time!
Very brave of you! I would've been terrified, even if the pilot was my son. :D
You are the coolest mom! My mom was the one who FREAKED when I went in a wee Cessna with a DEAF pilot ;)
You're lucky he didn't do pretzel maneuvers, no?
Yikes about the visor... timing is everything!
YOU ARE AN INCREDIBLE MOM...I am not sure I could have done that. My hubby had a little plane (before we got together) and I am glad he got rid of it, cause I don't know if I could have talked myself into going up there.
I am Deathly afraid of BIG planes, let alone itty bitty ones.
Congrats to your boy though for sure on all his accomplishments.
Merry Christmas to ya, I'll get back to you the end of December some time. Headed to Utah.
Hahahaha! Yeah. I would have been glad of not knowing why he wore those shades until after the flight too! Boy, my husband would looooove to have a pilot license. I hope he can someday.
How very cool! You are brave and a super awesome mom! I hope my son grows up and wants to fly planes. I may begin planting a seed now. :)
Seriously - You are a FANTASTIC mom. I don't even drive with my kids much less fly in a small plane with them. Yeah, I'm a wimp like that!
Good for you and glad you didn't know about the pilot blindness until you were back on the ground. Scary!!
Somebody told me they paid $100 bucks to turn their blog into a book. That would be so fun...
Sandy
oh, yea, the visor, that is scary. I took one lesson when I was 16. I don't know why my dad never took me out to another lesson, But I remember the practice stalls in the air. I have a fear of heights too.
I was nervous reading this one! I don't know if my heart could take it if my son wanted his pilot's license later. What a great mother you are to be so supportive!
