National Lampoons Christmas Vacation, one of the funniest Christmas classics with Chevy Chase. Remember this house? Seemed unreal at the time. What was it, like 1989 when it came out?
Now a days it's not so far fetched. We were watching a t.v. show the other night about people and their Christmas obsessions. There were people who collect snowman, Nutcrackers and one lady who even has over 200 Christmas trees, in and around her house, all themed decorated.
The most impressive is a guy who took lighting his house to a whole new level. He currently has over 250,000 lights synchronized to music. His goal is to have a million. A million lights!
I'm amazed. He starts planning in January for his Christmas display of lights, which he changes and adds to each year. I'm not sure what his regular job is but it must be flexible and fluid enough to accommodate his hobby.
Oh no, this isn't him. As a matter of fact, this is my neighbor and his son a month ago setting up their Christmas lights. If I'm not mistaken, it's much more elaborate from his display last year. The lights are also synchronized to music and man do they get rockin'. Which we happen to love.
This picture doesn't do the house justice as it is very impressive. I can't wait to see what they come up with next year. The 250,000 light guy better watch out, my neighbor could very well take over his spot...... light.

I heard about that tv show. I'd like to watch it. We like to drive around and look at light displays every year. Unfortunately there aren't many around here in Rexburg.
Wow- those folks who put so much time, energy and money into their lights and decorations have my admiration~
I love the holiday lights. Our tradition from childhood is to go around on Christmas eve looking at the lights in as many neighborhoods as we could. Our daughter is passing on the tradition. Not quite two year old Katelyn says 'pretty' every time they drive by a decorated house. It's awfully sweet. Take care.
I love Christmas lights! I loved driving around to see them as a kid and I hope to do the same with my own kids. We still live in an apartment so decorating outdoors isn't part of the holiday tradition yet but someday it will be!
I love the Christmas light displays and in one area of the city there is a neighbourhood in which every houses are elaborately decorated and people drives for miles to see these displays that gets bigger every years.
I would imagine that the power bill must be enormous with all the lights on some houses.
How fortunate to have a neighbour who decorate his property so elaborately.
Hugs,
JB
That takes some serious dedication.
I did see the show and thought boy oh boy what dedication and expense but I like your neighbors and how nice for you to view for free. Enjoy the view and please continue to share with us so we can too! Happy Monday ","
Wow! Christmas lights are so fun. I don't have the patience to put them up myself, so I'm definitely grateful for neighbors who do!
I always enjoy my neighbor's Christmas lights and feel a bit sorry for them that they look out their window at our house. We usually drape some lights across the front porch and call it good. It's nice and festive inside though. I'm just too much of a cold wimp to want to decorate outdoors!
It truly is amazing what some people do to decorate their houses. What about yours??
We don't have a single light on our house. Living in the country, we found you couldn't really see it very well from the road anyway...
We were going to put lights on our cabin, so when we sat at the kitchen table we'd be able to enjoy them. But a cold snap hit and we haven't go them up.
NEXT YEAR???
My love for looking at Christmas lights began in Portland, Oregon where my parents would load my brother, sister and I up (more than 5o years ago) and go to Peacock Lane. I just saw a clip on the news tonight about good old Peacock Lane, they are still doing it after all these years.
We have a neighbor in St. George that does this, it is fun to turn the radio up and rock along with it! MERRY CHRISTMAS! :)
I love it!! I think it would be fun to live next to that... they do the work you get to sit and watch it! I love Christmas lights, this year was just to much for me to put up anything but the tree...
May the Christmas season fill your home with joy, your heart with love and your life with laughter.
Blessed Christmas Saimi. God bless you and your family! *warm hug
