How may I help you?

I returned from our annual quilt retreat of four days, fifteen ladies, late nights and lots of laughter. To sum it up, it's a girls night out on steroids.

I came back rejuvenated, pumped and excited to start new projects.

As soon as I walked in the door, I said Hi to the husband, unloaded my car then turned around and went straight to a quilt store to shop for more fabric. Once in the store I filled my arms with pretty prints. As I was contemplating on what I wanted a lady walked in, took one look at me and  gave me a big smile followed by a Hi. It was that kind of familiarness that made think I met her somewhere. I smiled back and said Hi, all the while wondering how I might know this gal.

She proceeded to talk to me as if she knew me so I figured if I continued to engage in the conversation it would come to me on who this mystery lady was.

She asked me if they do quilting in the store and since I knew that they did, I told her yes. It wasn't until she started to discuss her project, it finally dawned on me, she thought I was an employee.

With a little laugh, I interrupted her and told her I didn't work there.

The poor girl was a bit embarrassed but I assured her it was quite alright and went in the back room to fetch the store owner.

After they chit chatted about her quilt she said her goodbyes and as she turned around to leave, I gave her a friendly wave and told her to come back again.

It was my turn to check out and seeing what I spent on fabric, let me just say, I could have used an employee discount. Might be time to change my profession.

What a great story Siami.
I'm glad that you got rejuvenated by going to a quilt retreat. What a lovely way to spend some time being creative with fabric.
Have a great week,
Hugs,
JB

That's a great story- and I think you need to insist on that employee discount next time!

You are so funny and a quick thinker on your feet. Maybe a part time job a couple of days a week might just ease the pain at the register, of course you would have to quit your other job in order to have time to do your quilting...never mind, it seems to defeat the purpose somehow.

HA HA HA HA HA! That is hilarious! I would have been so embarrassed if I'd done that. But she obviously thought you looked like you knew what you were doing and had excellent fabric taste... so she was still smart :)

I think you just found your little job after retirement; the fun kind with perks. When you get some of your quilts done, post a few pictures. I love quilts.

It's always so tricky when people act like they know you, and you can't remember them! This made me smile. My sister loves quilting like you. I've made one pieced quilt. It was a lot of work, but I was proud of it!

Hahahha! That's too funny! Yeah, quilting is expensive. Which is one reason I've never made one. It's on my someday list though. :D

Lol! That is funny. I think we have all mistaken someone for a store employee at some point. And so fun you got to go to your quilting retreat

Funny story! I have to be careful wearing orange in Home Depot or red in Target, that or stop smiling at people because I get asked for help all the time in stores! Never happened to me in a quilting store (which means I need to go SHOPPING!) Come east and I will give you the tour!
