The Luck of the Irish

I'm a traditionalist. I like to celebrate the Holidays and take in the festivities. With today being St. Patricks day I made sure to wear green and prepare Corned Beef and cabbage for dinner.

As far as my blood line goes, the Finnish in me comes from my mothers side and the English from my father. Whether or not I have Irish in me is uncertain, non the less I do enjoy celebrating March 17.

Ironically, today has been in my favor. At the post office I was mailing some packages, when the postmaster informed me of the total, low and behold I had the exact amount in my wallet. When I needed some foil paper for the meal I was preparing, and forgetting I was out until I opened the drawer, I took a chance and searched our storage room. Whoa la! What did I find, foil paper. Tweaking a recipe for Corned beef and cabbage and not sure how it was going to turn out, I gave it a taste and Wowza, it was amazing.

Summing up the day, I'd say it's been rather lucky.

As well as being a traditionalist I'm also a bit superstitious. I needed to know if I've been missing some  information regarding my heritage.

I texted my mother and asked if we had anything else that she may know of mixed in our blood besides Finnish and English. To my surprise, her father who died when she was 3, just happened to be.....Irish, with a hint of Scottish.

Apparently, it appears I have the luck of the Irish in me after all, which could also account for why there is a stubborn side to me as well, but no need to drudge that up.

Slainte mhaith! Cheers to good health!
