Store, lets go to a store. Over and over again this kid wants to go and do. Doesn't really surprise me much as he is just like his father.
Our oldest son was a mover and a shaker, well I shouldn't say was, at 29 he is still a guy on the go. When he was little he would follow his dad around helping with anything he could get his hands on. As a teen he had his own business as a videographer recording special events for people. I drove him to his first wedding because he wasn't old enough for a driver's license. He was a police cadet and a volunteer firefighter while still in high school.
He is now a Police officer but on the side, owns a embroidery and silkscreen business. He is a father of twin boys and one of them reminds me of my son.
While visiting their family over Christmas one of the twins continually wanted to go to 'The store.'
Where they live they have true winters. Below freezing and plenty of snow and ice. I can understand being housebound but to see the comparison in his brother, who was perfectly happy staying home with no interest in going to a store what so ever, made it difficult to please them both.
One wanted to leave and the other wanted to stay.
If the one twin saw anyone leave the house, he would say, 'store,' and begin to put on his boots. If you asked what store he wanted to go to, he would reply, 'Home Depot.'
Truly his favorite store of all time. Hm, must get it from his dad the project man.
We decided to take the boys to see their first movie in a theater. It was a full day out on a rare sunny but cold day. We went to lunch, then to the theater. The boys were amazed at the big screen and folding seats. They would sometimes get fidgety but all and all it was a good experience.
After the movie and while we were driving out of the parking lot, the one twin was getting anxious, 'No home, no home,' he kept repeating.
I tried my best to reason with him on how we just spent the entire day out going to lunch and to a movie but now it was time to go home.
No home, no home.
There was no reasoning with the kid, he was out and that's the way he wanted it to stay.
No home, no home he continued to chant.
So I asked, 'Where do you want to go?'
Home Depot.

Wow the twin have grown and that's a might fish.
I love the story of not wanting to go home but wanting to go to Home Depot. lol. You never know what kids will come up with.
I hope you had a great Easter.
Hugs,
JB

Ah -- the Home Depot. I've spent more than one date night roaming the aisles of that store -- but, unlike your super adventurous grandson, I'm ok with going home. I like the store just fine -- but I find the lumber aisles put me to sleep. This was a fun post. I enjoyed reading about your horse in Hawaii, and your Irish heritage too. You are a good writer -- and I'm not fooling even if it is April fools day.
So cute! Just like Daddy.
