Groundhog Day

'They say we're young and we don't know, we won't find out until we grow. Well I don't know if all that's true, cause you got me, and baby I got you......

The song replays each day as Phil Connors, a TV weatherman, wakes up and is forced to live the same February 2 over and over again.

The husband and I watched this Bill Murray movie in honor of Groundhog Day, it is indeed a classic.

One thing we have in common with the 1993 film is the groundhog was right.  Just like in the movie, not only were the good people of Punxsutawney PA in for six more weeks of winter, apparently so are we.

Due to the amount of snow and ice we have accumulated this year, our schools have been either closed or have had two hour delays.

I don't mind really, I rather like having a closure or a delay. I love the preschoolers I work with but, I like a day off better.

I also have my own wake up call everyday.

It's not a Sonny and Cher song, it's better.

Each morning my four year old grandsons face time me at the same time everyday like clockwork.

'Good morning Grandma'

'Good morning boys'

'Let's see what baby's doing'

Anticipating the call, I'll have baby waiting next to my bed.

After a few minutes of interaction with the baby, the boys are up and about. They'll carry their iPad around the house while flitting from their playroom to the living room, down to the basement and sometimes in the pantry. Luckily I don't get motion sickness, just saying.

I took a screen shot of what was going on in the pantry after their dad found them. Usually I don't see what they are doing because I'm looking at the light while their iPad sits on a shelf.

Then there are the times they have a wild hair up their naked bums as I catch a glimpse of those little buggers jumping commando on their beds.

Laughing I'll tell them to go get their clothes on.

'Never!' they reply, making me laugh even more.

When they aren't running around and jumping from here to there they'll position the iPad so I can watch them play.

I love listening to them interact with each other while they are involved with some imaginary play. Changing their voices from a good guy to a bad guy or whatever character they happen to be.

This continues on until my phone battery is low then we say our goodbyes......Until the next morning at the same time when it starts all over again.

'Good morning Grandma'

'Good morning boys.

'Let's see what baby's doing'

It's just incredible being a daily part of their world and as Phil Connors woke to Sonny and Cher every morning, I gotta say,

I got those babes and baby they got me.....

Lucky grandma you are. They are keeping up with technology too. I still don't have Face Time on my computer and I don't have an iPad butI get Skyped by my grandsons once in a while. I know Facetime is much better.

We have lots of snow and crazy weather also. Hang in there, Spring is not all that far away. We're expecting a new baby girl on the 15th. I hope my granddaughter doesn't go during a snow storm.
Stay warm and safe.
Hugs
Julia

I adore this!
How wonderful that you get to share in their days!
We have snow and cold here too.
Now today, it is rain.
Tomorrow...snow!
I am a huge fan of winter...indoors, of course...but I must say...green grass and birds singing sound pretty good right now!
I hope you have a cozy weekend. : )
