Boy time

Shortly after my sister left the husband and I hit the road to see our grandsons and their parents. They live about 9 hours away in a different state but it is always worth the drive.

Our son was planning a neighborhood movie night in their backyard, featuring 'Boss Baby'. It was the first time watching the movie and I thought it was rather cute.

We brought these banana type lounge things that with a quick flick of your wrist should inflate. At least the way the guy demonstrated it at last years fair, made it look really simple. There definitely is an art to doing it and to say the least, it was very comical watching the husband and our son trying to capture the air.

After fiddling with the lounge chairs the husband decided it was time to trade up the boys bikes. He bought them last year for Christmas and clearly noticed how they have out grown them. They were from a bike store that has a trade up program where they take back the used bikes and apply them to the cost of bigger ones.
The boys were so proud of their new bikes. It was cute because the husband slipped the money in their wallets so they can pay themselves.
Naturally we had to go for a ride .

The next morning the husband and I drove to Utah to attend a friends funeral, after which the husband flew home from there and I drove back to spend the rest of the week with the boys.

My son and his wife took some time to go on a date, so I took the boys for a little date of our own. Funny, we had the same idea for dinner and found their truck in the very parking lot of a restaurant we were going to.

The boys and I decided to let them eat first and we would go back when they were finished. With Toys R Us right next door it wasn't hard to kill time.

We made it back to the restaurant and had a fabulous date. How they love lemons.
 Silly boys.

They also had a fun new place called Kids Town where my daughter in law and I took the boys. It's really a cute place and the boys loved it!

This place called Rita's has amazing Italian ice-cream making it a perfect treat.
It's amazing how fast a week can go but it was time to head home bringing an end to summer and a start back to work.

Saimi, you are the fun grandma extraordinaire. Wow, those grandkids are so lucky to have you. I can tell they love it when they are around you. I love the backyard movie night idea. That looks like so much fun.
Thanks for your comment on my blog. Enjoy the rest of the summer.
Hugs, Julia

Hi Saimi!

Looks like a great time to me!! I do believe that they may live in my town...or at least close to me! I recognized all those places...yes, Rita's is amazing! What a fun time with your cute little boys! In my opinion, there is nothing like being a grandma, but, grandpa would sure run a close second! I can't believe how quickly those little twins have grown, and already having movie nights with their friends. The chairs do look interesting, but, nothing is ever what they say, right?!

It's funny to think that summer is almost over, and school is starting already. I love to go to the stores and smell the paper and crayons, brings back good memories for me!

So glad you got to spend a few days with your kids and grands. Seriously, you should have stayed for the eclipse, it was amazing!

Hugs,
Barb

Oh my goodness you drove all that distance - both ways - how nice. I know it had to be great to see them again. They are adorable and I bet they are spoiled by grandma and grandpa!

A lot of people have movie night in the back yard - seems like a lot of fun.

Enjoy your weekend.
