Weekend Getaway

Our youngest son called and invited us to spend a couple of days with them at Skamanina Lodge, which is nestled in a little town called Stevenson along the Columbia River Gorge.

I jumped at the invitation. Skamania Lodge holds some very fond memories of when our kids were little. During one of our spring vacations we stayed at the lodge where we spent time hiking and skiing.

The staff provided free movies, games and crafts in which our boys throughly enjoyed.

Since then the husband and I have gone back a time or two for a nights stay, so when our son asked if we wanted to meet them there it was an offer we couldn't refuse. We love that place.

We arrived around the same time late Sunday afternoon which was perfect timing. After getting ourselves unpacked and settled in we decided to stretch our legs and go for a brisk walk along the trails around the golf course before night was upon us, then filled our bellies with a delicious dinner.

We later enjoyed playing a card game called Skull King, if you haven't heard of it I highly recommend the game. It's really fun and family friendly unless your playing with us. It could be Go-Fish and our competitive family can turn it into a game of family feud haha.
Megan and I had some girl time where we bounced between the sauna and hot tub letting our bodies relax and melt. Luckily a staff member reminded us when it was closing time.
Had she not, they would have been scraping us up with a giant spatula.

After our spa we said our goodnights and the husband and I took our dog out for one last potty run before heading to bed. While outside we noticed the lunar eclipse was happing so we called George and Megan to come and watch it with us.

It was truly a sight to see and kinda eery at the same time.  I kept an watchful eye out for the Skamaina Sasquatch. If there was one lurking about, I wanted to make sure I was on the ready.

Monday morning, after an hearty breakfast,
The view from our breakfast table.
we checked out and headed to a trailhead called Horsetail Falls.

It was a great little hike although part of the trail was closed off due to mud slides but we were at least able to hike to the waterfall.

After our hike we went to a cute little town called the Cascade Locks and treated ourselves to some tasty ice-cream before saying our goodbyes.
It was a quick trip but a most needed one as my depleted mama cup has been filled.

I'm glad you filled your depleted mama cup. It's nice seeing all that green grass and that you got away to be with your family to one of your favorite place. It looks like such a nice place with beautiful views.

You're lucky to have seen the moon eclipse. We had an overcast sky full of falling snow so we missed it.
Wow, those ice cream cones are huge. I've never seen any so tall. Yummm...
Enjoy the rest of January.
Hugs, Julia
