Sister Staycation Leavenworth WA

My sister and I took a little side trip, giving the horses a couple of days leave, and went to the cutest German town in Leavenworth.
The weather treated us with beautiful blue sunny skies in the morning so we decided to get as many pictures as we could while the getting was good.

There were so many different  photo opportunities in which we didn't let any go to waste especially since there was a possibility of a thunder storm later in the afternoon.
Aside from the traditional German look of this touristy town the back drop and surrounding hills make Leavenworth absolutely stunning.
We found a darling place to eat called the Gingerbread Factory.

It's one of those bakery's where it smells so good inside that you want to start with dessert first. We decided to take advantage of the sunny weather and eat outside as well as snapping more pictures.
Continuing our walk about we came across a bike rental store. There was no way we were going to pass up a yellow bike built for two, even with thunder clouds moving in.
And just as the forecast predicted, it started raining on us ten minutes into our ride.
To say the least we got soaked. It wasn't as easy as it seemed to turn around and head back to the rental shop because we were rather lost in the wooded bike trail. We kept riding around and around trying to find our way out. Of course taking pictures along the way. Hey, if there's not a picture then it didn't happen right?
We eventually found our way out and back to the shop. Luckily the storm was short lived and while our clothes were drying in the lodge we utilized the hot tub and pool.
I was so relived the weather cleared because later that evening we attended the outdoor play, The Sound of Music.

Talk about a musical sensation. Holy cow! The setting couldn't have been more perfect, the hills were definitely alive with the sound of music. The next morning we said good bye and headed back home for one more day of riding before leaving for the weekend to attend a family reunion.
