It didn't take any time at all for our new bubbling boy to feel at home. As a matter of fact he was very excited to meet his new brothers and sister. With every ounce of enthusiasm he had in his chubby little body he did his best to wiggle a hello. The terrier, schnauzer and Shepard didn't really pay much attention to him at first but after a day or so, they realized he was staying.
That changed everything:
Jimmy the terrier, who's no bigger than Toto on the Wizard of OZ, demonstrated his most ferocious growl making it quite clear his ankles are not for biting, his toys are not for sharing, and his food is for him and only him.
Oskar, the not so miniature schnauzer, hasn't figured out what to do with piranha puppy. I'm not even sure he knows what Mr. bundle of energy is, but he's not sticking around to find out. Let's see, "Do I fight, or flight?" He choose flight. Now picture a toddler who just figured out that he can get a great reaction by teasing. Pull sister's hair, sister screams. Stand in front of brother while he's watching his favorite show, brother yells, "Get out of my way!" Hmmmm chase the schnauzer, schnauzer runs in circles trying to escape the snapping jaws - sounds fun? It is for Archie, over and over again.
Our German Shepard Missy is the only one with first hand experience and knows how to deal with puppies. Therefore, she is the most patient of the three. She will allow the baby to climb on her when she is laying down or will nudge him gently to engage in some sort of play, but when he decides her tail is for pulling, she will scold him and leave.
Not a lot of friendly invitations to play for a frisky little guy that wants to chew, chase and bite.

What a total cutie! I would totally get a dog if they stayed small forever.
Then theres the "other" dog, Boots. Actually, its a cat we have that was raised around dogs. As its said, birds of a feather flock together. So our cat flocks with the dogs. A wild thing, perhaps the most playful of all the dogs. Oskar, Jimmy, Missy, and now Archie accept this cat as one of theirs and don't even realize that it is of another species. On the other hand, our dogs, including Boots, knows that Rosie is a cat and she runs the house her way. All dogs hail her and let her have the right of way. . . As do we
