The destroyer

See this fluffy white stuffing?

Now don't go thinking I don't vacuum my house...well actually I don't, the husband does, he also likes to sweep which makes me very lucky and grateful but that's not the point. The point to this post is this wonderful white 'stuff' came from our lovely little Beagle who rips, tears and destroys anything that has stuffing. He's obsessed with it and not a stuffed toy in the world can withstand his razor sharp teeth, not even his doggy bed which he has ripped and destuffed on many occasions. I now have to take it away from him during the day and bring it out only at night for bed time.

During the day the dogs have hard toys and dog bones to keep them occupied but the stuffed toys are kept under wraps. It's a bummer because Oskar, my Schnauzer, loves his frog more than any toy in the world.....stuffed frog that is. Stuffed frog can't come out to play if Archie is around so I give Archie his prize stuffed toys only at night so Oskar can enjoy a few hours licking his frog.

So while Archie is busy ripping and tearing his toys, Oskar gets to play with Frog. Here's the destroyer in action.

And here is Oskar enjoying some time with his dear friend Mr. Frog.
Yes Oskar I know, you love your frog!

That's very sweet he has a favorite! Funny how certain dogs fixate on things. My sister's dog will not rest until she's removed the squeaker from the plastic/rubber toys. Thankfully, of my dog's many dysfuctions, this isn't one of them!

LOL I shouldn't laugh...our golden ripped every bit of stuffing out of his mattress until every bit was done. I don't know why they do this..but they grow out of it! Cute green frog and his owner! ;D

Wow, how cruel would it be to get a dog deteethed?

Your Dog and Tauna's cat would throw quite a party. :)

I was thinking about Tauna's cat too when I saw this post.... :)

Oh no Archie, naughty doggie, (I'll bet he had a terrific time ripping that thing to shreds). Look at it this way, at least he keeps it to small items and not chairs and couches.

What cute doggies. It is so frustrating when they start ripping things apart. We have a 9 month old standard poodle...and LUCKILY for us, she has not been a "destroyer". We did buy her a big bed/pillow that she chewed the zipper off of (grrrr)....and she did eat off the end of hubby's slipper..........BUT, that is it. Knock on wood...........or fluff

Aw Oskar! My Allison can sympathize completely. She always took such good care of her toys, and could always go to her toy basket to pick out one to play with. Then the mighty mouth moved in and they had to be kept under constant guard.

Oh kt goodness. I believe that naughty dog should be sent to obedience school.....I'll stop and pick him up on the way to taking my cat to the same school.

The dogs expression with his frog makes me laugh.

I have a 115 pound Black Lab who loves more than life, his frisby! We have to buy the ones that are extremely durable or he will chew them to bits! Your Beagle is adorable and so is your Schnauzer! What on earth would we do without our furry little friends to keep us smiling?!

Good times for the pups. Not so much for the stuffed animals.

I had a Schnauzer just like that when I was a kid. Such a lovable dog.

We thinks Archie for sure has bones to pick with stuffed stuff. Your mommy is so sweet Oskar to find a way for you to get to spend time with your frog...we love your pictures with your froggie. Hugs and nose kisses

Awww! Love how they're like siblings in how different they are with their toys! And that Archie is determined! :)

aw, oskar!
seriously, beagles! i feel like we have twin dogs separated at birth! judge has ripped apart every toy except for one, which he miraculously kept together and full for a year. we're pretty sure he was in love with it.

I'm wondering if Archie and Oskar have ever squared off over Mr. Frog?

I can totally see why Oskar loves his green frog. It is cute! Yikes on the mess you have to clean up when Archie takes all the stuffing out of something.

This is the same at my house except my Archie is a 2 year old little girl. Poor Oskar and his frog :)

Yea, I've seen that same white puffy stuff over here at my house. You would think with exercise it would get better. I just got back from walking our two dogs at the lake and wondering why it was not relaxing. I have one german shepherd that likes to compete with the other one and is always grabbing that one by the ear in play--but annoying that dog to the extreme. They ran in the water, got all wet and would not stay in the back of the yukon on the way home. I promised them that next time they do not get to go together--no more play dates.

Poor Oskar. Always the other kid that ruins the fun for everyone :)

my boston is a stuffie DESTROYER. first he kills the squeaker (which? not such a bad thing, actually), then he RIIIIIIPS out the stuffing. so fresh :P
i see tons of cute toys i want to get him, but i know they will be murdered in two seconds, so i only buy him 1$ stuffies. (it makes up for the 3 zillion dollar bones he likes to chew on. :)

i can't even deal with little oskars face in that last picture. the scruffiness!!! adorable!!!!!

I wonder if that's a beagle thing. My family had a beagle once, years ago. And he destroyed stuff too.

I have a closet FULL of stuffies that need a new home... the little girls won't give them up... Maybe if we invited Archie over for a day the overpopulation problem would just... disappear?

(no, I'm not REALLY that evil of a mom... I just play one on TV)

Archie is very cute, but now I just feel so sorry for poor Oskar because he can't hang out with his frog as much as he'd like.

I had a dog once that did that...the remedy the vet gave us was a kong. She said to stuff peanut butter in it and give it to the dog as we left. She'd spend so long trying to get the peanut butter out, by the time she finished she'd be too exhausted to be bored. It worked for my dog...

Poor Oskar - he needs more froggie time. It's a good thing Oskar hasn't gotten back at Archie.

I just caught up on your last three blogs. I'm sorry you were sick. As for the fluff -- I suppose it is good exercise to pick it all up? I loved your quilts. I made a real one once and one day I might do it again just because it was so fun to see the finished product and to think that I had done it myself! Your quilts are beautiful. We had one mouse in our house once. Thankfully we think it snuck in a cracked door and we never have seen any more. I smiled at the pictures of your cats sleeping. They apparently forgot they were on mouse duty.

As always I love your Archie posts. :)
It never ceases to amaze me the similarity in all beagle personalities. It makes me laugh.
Dash is a complete destroyer. He even tore into an empty pop can the other day. Dave has decided that we have a goat instead of a beagle. LOL
I think I am going to write a post about what he did at the vet yesterday. You'll get a kick out of it.
Dash will turn 11 months old next week and I am hoping he will outgrow his chewing and destroying, but after reading your post I am not too hopeful. :)

I had a dog that loved to tear the stuffing out too. I don't know what it is. But don't you just love dogs?

W.C.Camp said...

I just met another dog that tears out stuffing and then plays with the 'un-stuffed' animal for a year. Must be long lost brothers? W.C.C.

You are making me afraid to get a dog! WE absolutely HAVE to get one before too much longer. I am waiting for my youngest to be out of diapers and rid of the pacifier first. The stuffing everywhere is worth all the sweet loving they give you, right? Right? No?

Awww, it's so nice that you not only captured Archie having a good time, but also Oscar (LMAO!!!)
