And sew on...

My quilting buddies and I go on a quilt retreat at an amazing lodge tucked somewhere in the woods where there isn't any cell service. We pack up our sewing rooms, load our cars then head out into the wilderness where we sew, laugh and eat our way through four incredible days.
Just a little something she whipped up
I sat across from this gal who meticulously twisted
this Jack-O-Lantern
This gift from a daughter speaks volumes about her mothers life
We needn't worry about cooking as there is a chef who prepares our meals, as well as the snack table where we all contribute some sort of goodie.

The ladies I quilt with are skillfully, talented quilters which leaves me in awe every time we gather for a 'show and tell' They're kind though and are always encouraging when I sum up the courage to show my work.

Actually I wouldn't even be posting about my quilts if it weren't for Gayle. She's also a talented quilter, whom I just met through blogging, who suggested I post about my quilting.

So here goes.

These are a couple of quilts hanging on my sewing room walls. I love bright colors and find myself drawn to them.

This quilt was a class project called 'Cobblestones'
I used a scrappy binding to finish it
Something about this material gives me a warm
wintery feeling.

Although I love bright colors, it's not the tones I use in my house. It's the natural warm colors that are found throughout the main rooms of our home.

These little pinwheels were paper pieced. We only needed to make  couple for our
project but I made a bajillion.

Here are a few blocks of this years project. Instead of a quilt a month, we are making four blocks of similar patterns each month. I'm a bit worried on how it's going to come together.
I'll be adding white sashing in between the blocks but I don't know, it looks like a train wreck to me.
What I love most about quilting are the request I get from my grandsons.
"Grandma blanket please."
Naturally,  I can't resist.

What a TREAT to see all the photos of your quilts - LOTS of eye candy - and I LOVE that ladder you have some of them displayed on! I used to belong to a group that did retreats and always enjoyed them, but we sort of dwindled down to nothing and I sure do miss that aspect of quilting friendships. Looks like you have a wonderful time!

Wow - Beautiful quilts, you are so talented! I have always wanted to learn to quilt, but have never taken the time to do so. It takes a special person to create such beauty! It sounds like you had a blast!

stunning! beautiful colors and quilts I sew and embroider but have never tried quilting. I have some quilts I do treasure though that were made by my grandma and g.gm.
