Orderly or anal

Do you ever give your horse a bath?

Without hesitation I answered, before and after every ride.

The gal from work was wondering as they have never bathed their horses.

I love spending time grooming our horses. Detangling their tails, washing their faces, cleaning their noses and making sure they are clean and ready for a ride.

When you feel good, you perform good.

After riding the ritual is repeated.

I'd like to say my efforts are appreciated and although they are patient while I wash the sweat away and towel dry them, as soon as they enter the pasture, it's down they go and they roll this way, and that way covering themselves in dust and dirt.

Pondering the conversation I had with my friend, I had an awaking:

I find myself cleaning the house before the housecleaner arrives.

I clean and wash my car at least four times a week and before and after every trip.

The kitchen has to be clean before I prepare a meal and while I'm cooking I'm washing and putting away pots and pans. By the time dinner is done, the kitchen is clean....again.

When the boys were young, their coats and backpacks had their names inside them. If something was missing or left on the bus, I would hunt it down and recover it.

It drives me nuts to see lost items at school left in a big bin. Coats, sweaters, hats, scarves all pile up in a heap. How are they not missed?

Although my Miniature Schnauzer receives a bath once a week and his bedding get washed as well,  prior to our vacation, I bathed him and washed his bedding again, packed his food and goodies as well as his favorite toy then wrote a detailed list regarding his care for my in-laws.

Dog care is not rocket science but it made me feel better about leaving him.

I also bagged the horses hay and labeled each one with their name on it. Bailey brown (brown because of his color)
and Jaycee black because of her color.  Just to make sure there wouldn't be a mistake in their hay, I used a brown marker for Bailey and a black marker for Jaycee.

In my defense, the horses eat different hay and this was the first time for the person caring for them while we were gone.

I could go on but I'm not painting a very good picture of myself. In a nut shell, perhaps I'm just anal about being orderly.

You must have tons of energy... You sound like me when I was younger. I was a neat freak, everything had to be clean, neat and orderly. I still like it that way but being married to a sloppy, yes, a sloppy man who doesn't care about any of this has left me exhausted and I no longer can keep up. You'll get no judgement from me because at my core, I'm still a neat freak who can no longer keep up.

I never had a horse but I had a white miniature poodle and I washed her paws every time I brought her in the house. She was bath and groomed regularly and like your horse, she wanted to roll in the dirt. They like their smell.
Hugs, Julia

I'm the same way with my pets! You can never do too much for them!

I have never had a horse, or been around them much, so had never thought about how much work it must be to properly care for them. Sounds like you keep everyone and everything neat, clean and orderly around your home! Enjoy the coming week!

Hi Saimi :)

I'm the same way. There are lists for everything when I leave my pups. I don't think you're crazy at all.

I love your sense of humor, by the way and I'm so glad you left a comment on my blog :)
