Exploring new territory

When the husband and I purchased our camp trailer we made a pact we would camp at least 12 times this year, we just checked off our third trip.

This new trailer is not our first rodeo, we've had a couple of trailers in the past.

Our first one was an old Terry trailer but to me it was the Taj Mahal. We graduated from tent camping with our young family to an actual trailer, it was heaven.

We soon out grew our vintage home in the woods so we purchased a larger trailer to accommodate our growing boys but, it was a catch twenty two.

As they became involved in other activities, soccer, piano, football, wrestling, youth orchestra etc. our camping days became far and few between so with one trip under our belt we sold the camper.

Fast forward to a couple of empty nesters, the husband and I decided to revisit the camping idea and a new trailer was bought.

Our third trip was tucked away in the trees at an equestrian center. It was quiet and peaceful, probably because we were the only campers there making it all the more serene.
They had outdoor horse stalls

The horses proved to be good little campers and behaved themselves in their new environment.
After we got settled and the horses ate we saddled up and explored the 80 acres.

It was a perfect after dinner ride. The next day we wanted to take the horses and go for a longer ride so we trailered them to a spot designed for hikers, bikers and horse riders.
Further down the trail we saw a river. I wished there was a way we could have reached the water, but the embankment was too steep.

We also encountered two tunnels. The first one was easy because you could see the light at the end. The second one was longer and much darker.

The horses were very apprehensive about going through the second tunnel but as soon as the husband used his flashlight they were more willing.

We ended up riding 16.5 miles. Basically we rode back to the camp ground making it a wonderful sight for the hot and tired horses.

They welcomed their stalls and we drove back to pick up the trailer.

Although we were only camping an hour or so from home, it felt like we were a million miles away. Even our cat seemed to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere.

That sounds like a great camping trip. Great pictures of you, hubby and the horses. I haven't been camping since we sold our 19 foot camper trailer years ago. Like you we were too busy to use it and we sold it.

Smiles & hugs,
Julia

Wow, to have a place like that an hour or so away from home would be awesome. I hope someday to see more of that river...it looks to be beautiful.

This is EXACTLY what my hubs and I dream of doing once he retires! I can't wait to go camping in an RV!

You have such a nice trailer! We used to go camping when our kids were young. We had a pop-up. It was work to get it set up and taken down, but we sure had a lot of fun in that thing!

Looks like a beautiful place to camp and fun things to do. We had a nice motor home and then a travel trailer. We went far and wide in those campers and saw some beautiful sights. Enjoy your nice trailer.

Looks as if you enjoyed a fun vacation with the horses to ride and the home away from home.

That is such a great idea, to be able to make it a two-fer trip. Camping and horse riding. I love your goal, 12 trips in a year. We need to do better with this one.
