Meet Banjo a Cavalier Poodle cross.
This little guy is the newest addition to our family, a granddog if I may add.
Our son and his wife got him a couple of months ago in Pittsburg where they are currently living.
We have yet to meet him in person but through FaceTime and tons of pictures he has already captured our hearts. They've taught him to ring a bell when he needs to go potty. He can sit, stay, lay down and roll over and play hide and go seek and is seriously the sweetest and cutest little puppy.
They live in an apartment building on one of the upper floors so they have to take Banjo out to do his business. Someday they'll have a house with a yard but for now it's apartment living.
My son took Banjo out for a potty walk when another dog was watching him through a window. That other dog (a Pit Bull ) made a run for it, bolted out the open door and grabbed Banjo by the neck.
Instantly my son threw his arms around the Pit bull and held him in a head lock keeping him from tossing his puppy around. A crowd gathered and tried to help pry the dogs mouth open but to no avail.
He wasn't going to let go of Banjo.
Then someone knew to, and I've never heard of this, stick your finger in the dogs bum which makes them release their bite.
It worked.
Banjo was bleeding pretty bad so my son and his wife took their little puppy to an emergency pet care hospital. Luckily the owner of the dog did the responsible thing and paid for his care.
The vet clinic X-Rayed him and found his neck was in tact and his esophagus was fine he just needed to be stitched up.
We are so grateful for the prayers and expert care on Banjo's behalf.
He's happy to be home and his recovery is improving. It's evident he's gonna be running around in no time.
We truly are counting our blessings.

I have a small dog and it really makes me crazy to see owners of big dogs who can't control their dogs. Hope that little puppy is ok!
Banjo is adorable. Sad that he had to go through that. That's the problem with pitfalls. Once they clamp down on something there's no opening their jaws.. I had heard about that solution before. I hope I remember it if I ever need it.
Oh my goodness, this is a terrible thing to happen to such a sweet little puppy. It could have happened to a little child too. I'm not a fan of having those Pit Bull as pet. They can be killers.
I'm so sorry this happened to Banjo. I'm glad someone knew how to get the Pit Bull to let go.... Yuck , but i'm glad it worked. There was a hero in the crowd.
I hope that Banjo makes a full recovery poor little thing... I'm sure he will be afraid of Pit Bulls from now on and rightly so.
A blogger friend's dog got attacked by a big dog last year but her dog was not so lucky. It couldn't be saved. It was in the garage just getting ready to go for his walk when she was attacked by the neighbour's dog... Such a heart break when something like that happens.
Thanks for sharing this story. My heart goes out to your daughter and son in law.
Hugs, Julia
He is adorable!!!
I am sorry that happened to him!
Praying for his recovery, and that he is back to his happy, playful self in no time!
What a horrible thing to happen. So very thankful this precious little one is ok. I pray he continues to improve.
He is soooooooooooooooooo cute and blessed to get you! Our pup was rescued from abuse and he is so grateful to us. Loves us to death and he will too! sandie
What a little cutie. Thar pit bull should be secured better. He should never be able to get out. Oh my if that had been a small child he would have killed it. So glad that Banjo is recovering.

How traumatic! Very responsible of the dogs owners to pay for his care. What a miracle that he survived. And what a Good Samaritan to stick their fingers up the dogs butt!
Oh my gosh! That is a horrifying story! So glad everything worked out OK. Congrats on being the proud granddoggymommy!
