The Birthday Girl

Wanting to catch up with a friend of mine I thought it would be fun to take her to lunch on her birthday, which was on the 13th, I shot her a text and this is how the conversation went:

Me: Hey this is Saimi, want to go to lunch for your birthday tomorrow?

My friend: Hey you! I can't do tomorrow but what about Monday? Thanks for texting - it sounds like fun!

Me:  Monday it is, but we have to pretend it's still your birthday.

My friend: Of course! I plan on having at least three parties anyway. So what time and where?  Oops no wait! I just checked the calendar and Don (her husband) is taking me to lunch that day for my birthday! How about the following Monday the 24th?

Me:  No can do, my sister will be here, OK party girl how about Tuesday instead, like the 18th, my sister is coming on the 19th.

My friend: I just talked to Don and he can switch days so lets do Monday the 17th. Sorry to be such a pain! So where and when?

Me: You're the birthday girl you get to choose.

My friend: Well I like Kyoto (a Japanese grill) of course and I haven't been there in quite a while, what do you think 11:30 ok?

Me:  Yep sounds perfect! 11:30 it is, see you there.

My friend: :-D

Me:  Oh my gosh, I just got home and remembered the horse shoer is coming on Monday at 11:00, should we do Tuesday same time same place?

My friend:  I can't do Tuesday or Wednesday. How about Thursday? This is cracking me up, we are so popular!

Me:  My sister is coming on Wednesday and staying for a week. OK lets do this, it only takes an hour to put shoes on the horse so let's just meet at 12:30 on Monday at Kyoto.

My friend: Ok 12:30 on Monday the 18th at Kyoto. I'll be in the waiting area in the front if I get there first. If the shoer runs a little late, don't worry about it.

Me:  OK but Monday is the 17th haha, I'll see you there!

My friend:  Oh don't confuse me! OK Monday the 17th.

We had a great time together and although her birthday was last week, the celebration was just as fun.

Slicing and dicing and making a volcano out of an onion.
We both had the chicken and vegetables with rice then they brought her a little birthday surprise.
What ever she wished for, I hope it comes true.

With all the going back and forth setting the meeting date, it sure made this birthday a memorable one. I'm so glad that you got to meet for her birthday. That was so nice of you.
Happy Belated Birthday to your friend.
Hugs, Julia

That is hilarious! And you thought you were busy and overscheduled when you had a house full of little kids, right?

Glad you were able to make it happen, looks like a great time.
