March Madness

Holy moly is it really almost the end of March? It has been crazy busy and I'm not talking basketball.

Our annual quilt retreat kicked off the month with four days tucked in a lodge surrounded by snow.  Typically it snows at least once while we are there, this year it snowed every day.

Not to worry, we were perfectly cozy sewing, laughing and sharing.

Here's a sprinkle of quilts that were among us.

This one I'm making for my daughter in law. The colors she chose will fit perfectly with the decor of her house.
I brought some snowshoes so we could go and stretch our legs and bum from sitting.
After retreat, I had one week to get my affairs in order. The farm, dog, cat and house needed to be prepared for us to be gone for 10 days.

The husband and I were meeting our family in San Diego for our annual vacation.  We usually go in April but chose to use our grandsons school schedule for our spring break which happened to be in March.

San Diego was a welcome sight. We said goodbye to the snow and hello to the sun.

So grateful for these girls, our sons are lucky men.
And the boys, well their smiles give them away. The beach is definitely their happy place.

Everything available was within walking distance but we couldn't help ourselves and took advantage of the scooters.
These things were on every corner.
You download the app on your phone to activate the scooter then away you go. You don't even have to return them, just leave them where you are when you're done.

We had some pretty aggressive games going on

and visited a yummy ice-cream store just about every day.
Lego Land was a hit.

So were the bikes,
Even for the serious riders.
But there was a method to their madness, our son signed up for two races while we were there.

When our bike riding son Derek asked me if I wanted to go to a yoga class with him, I agreed. Little did I know it was on the bay with paddle boards.
My sister spent the last few days of her spring break visiting her son and daughter in law in San Diego, making it really convenient to see us as well. Here she is with her nephews.
After 5 days with the family, the husband and I stayed for another 5 days.
We spent a day touring San Diego on the trolly with my sister and her daughter in law Samantha.
Then the remainder of our stay was taking it easy and taking in some sights.
Old town
 Balboa Park

Coronado Island
Not to mention our daily ice-cream
I'm gonna miss that.
See ya later March it's been a fun month!

Even without words all of the Fantastic photos show exactly what you did on your vacation and it looks like so much fun and everyone looks so happy! I am shocked to read that you can activate a scooter with your phone and then just leave it. This world it is a changing! Wild clapping for your yoga on the board in the bay! I know you were glad to see all that sunshine and beaches instead of snow.

Again, it looks like you had a fantastic vacation with family and your special man. And your quilting retreat sounds like great fun too. Thanks for sharing a bit of your world with us. Those boys sure are getting tall even when they are laying on the beach. We still have lots of snow here too but it's been melting fast and it's wonderful to see the patches of ground in the fields.
Take care, Hugs, Julia
