Hi Grandma Saimi, I'm so excited to see you at San Diego, just 4 more nights.
I'm so excited to see you boys too!!!
Hi Grandma Saimi, I'm so excited to see you! Yeah, and we are going to play at the beach right?
Yes, we are going to play at the beach, I can't wait!
Yeah Grandma just one more night.
Our son and his family drove to San Diego, while the rest of us flew. They decided to leave a couple of days early so they can break up the drive and enjoy a day in Vegas before continuing to CA.
Knowing they left on Friday, two days before the rest of us, I called the boys to chit chat.
Hi guys hows it going?
Hey Grandma Saimi, we're in the car, it's a long drive.
Yes it is.
Are you driving Grandma?
No, Grandpa and I will be flying in a airplane.
Yeah, because it's a super long drive.
The following Sunday we all arrived. The boys were so excited they couldn't stand it. It was all about the beach for them and all about settling in for their parents.
Since they were bursting at the seams, I took them to the beach to play and release some energy from sitting in the car all day while the rest of the family unpacked and visited with each other.
The boys and I ran away from the waves, ran up and down the shoreline and built sandcastles.
We played until the sun went down.
After dinner, bath and books I helped put the boys to bed and laid with them until they fell asleep.
Early the next morning, Oliver got out of bed and snuggled in with his dad whispering, "Dad, I had so much fun with Grandma Saimi, I'm really going to miss her."
His dad replied, "Oliver, she's still here, she's downstairs."
His eyes grew wide and a huge smile crossed his face. I was told he bolted out of bed and ran down the stairs.
Lying awake, I could heard the pitter patter of feet so I came out of our room and saw both boys sitting on the stairs.
After a big hug from from each of them, they asked if they could go to the beach.
Without hesitation and while the rest of the family slept, the boys and I walked to the beach and continued where we left off.

I love the beach also, the perfect vacation, beach and boys
What a great grandma you are to those boys and it shows. You have the magic touch when it comes to having a great time with them.
Thanks for sharing your vacation with us.
If i was a kid, I'd want you to be my grandma.
Hugs, Julia
