Set sail for a three hour tour

Our middle son is always full of surprises. His latest adventure happens to be a captain aboard a 60 foot boat owned by a friend.
His friend invested in a boat where he charters it out for tours on Lake Washington and happened to recruit our son to help him out.
Derek called the week before Fathers Day wanting to take us on a boat tour. We just happened to be up to our ears in grandson camping activities so unfortunately it was a no go for us and agreed on a raincheck.

Since the following week was a rainy one, not the raincheck we were counting on, he rescheduled us for last Wednesday, July 3rd. The weather was overcast but not cold. It was amazing to see so many people out on the lake paddle boarding, canoeing, kayaking and boating. I guess any day not raining in Seattle is a good day.

The plan was to spend the afternoon on the boat then watch him race his bike later.

As it turned out the track was muddy due to some morning rain and Derek wasn't inclined to race in the muck so his back up plan was for us to join him in a Flywheel spin class.

The husband and I didn't come prepared with workout clothes but Derek was prepared for us.

He outfitted both his dad and I in his clothes and off we went to spin.

Holy smokes, I've never attended a spin class before and I'm sure I will never again, unless it's with my boy. There's something about not saying no to this kid when looks at you with his twinkling eyes and flashes his smile.

Ah, what a mothers love wouldn't do.
There was an instructor and about 10 people in the class. I wished I had my phone so I could have taken pictures of us  spinning together but I wasn't thinking and left it in the locker. Besides I'm not sure how I would handle taking pictures while spinning my legs off, it was hard haha.

Derek took the above photo of the husband and I poising after the 45 minute class.

After a quick shower the husband and I headed home.

It truly was a great day and it actually felt good to do something active before hitting the highway.

The next day was the 4th. The husband and I had a nice quite day together.

We picked raspberries in the morning and I made a pie for later in which we enjoyed after eating pizza for dinner.

Oskar is having a nice relaxing 4th of July as well.

No bells and whistles or even fireworks for us, just a nice quite day feeling grateful for the wonderful country we live in.

You're a good pie maker--that pie looks great! I enjoyed the pictures of y'all with your son and the boat--looks fun! And I loved the previous post and seeing the horses. That sure is some beautiful scenery where you went riding!

you had the perfect 4th mini vacation. I can see how you could not say not to your handsome son... what a fun job.. I have watched the spin classes at our YMCA and no way could I do them... the people who do are really dedicated to biking... and they are all thin. a great way to burn
those pie calories.

What a fun day on the water. That was so nice of your son to treat to a boat tour. He looks so handsome driving that boat. You two are so athletic and in good shape. Keep up the good work.

Wow, that's a lot of raspberries. My mouth is watering looking at that pie. One of my favorites.

Take care, hugs, Julia

I love being on the water...but I will leave the spin class to you and yours:) I do go to the gym and ride the stationery bike but I doubt I could keep up in a spin class. We had a quiet 4th also but did attend our small town's fireworks display which is actually very good for a little community like ours. Thanks so much for dropping by my blog and leaving a comment. Come back anytime and we'll "chat."

Hi Saimi~

Wow, what a fun day!! The boating looked like fun and spending time with your son, as the captain, must have just been a huge bonus! Our 4th was kind of the same, very quiet, fun with a few of our kids and grands, and very grateful for our beautiful country!

Hugs and Love,
Barb

I think everyone has that one "kid" that can charm you into almost anything. Glad you got a boat ride and hope you aren't too sore from your spinning adventure.
Pie looks great- Happy weekend- xo Diana

I love seeing you and your husband in spin class! I have never been to one and not likely to EVER do that. Slow yoga and Tai Chi for me....
Love your adventures!
