"Rosie, get on the blanket!" I am continually reminding our cat, the one who thinks this is her house and feels rules don't pertain to her. We have special pet blankets on both our couches and one on our bed for the dogs and cats. The animals are not allowed to be on the furniture otherwise. The dogs don't have a problem with this rule, and neither does Boo, our other cat. Even my kids forget the fluffy sheepskin blankets are for the animals. I don't blame them, they are soft, cozy and warm, perfect for snuggling, but the purpose is to keep the furniture clean and looking nice. When we have guest over, I remove the blankets, put the animals down stairs and whoa la, the company sits down on nice clean couches without taking a clump of cat or dog hair with them when they leave. Every day, over and over I remind Rosie she needs to be on the blanket. Especially her, she leaves behind the most hair out of all of them. I'll pick her up to place her on a blanket and boy does she get mad, she'll growl at me, dig her claws into the fabric giving me quite the resistance, and growl some more. This cat really thinks she is the Queen of Sheba, once I have moved her, I'll try to settle her by petting behind her ears and stroking her back, but the damage has been done, she flashes me the evil eye and jumps down. We go through this daily.
So this morning, after shooing Rosie off my bed because, once again, she would not stay on the blanket, I came in to the living room and sat on the couch. After a few minutes, I noticed a lump in the pet blanket. I lifted the corner of the blanket and saw the Queen of Sheba, lying underneath. Now tell me, do you think she's knows what she is doing or what??
Rosie favorite spot to sharpen her precious claws are the stairs. This is NOT ok and I have placed all kinds of cat scratching post and pads on each landing of the stair case for this very reason. Again, she feels rules don't pertain to her and she will scratch where she feels fit.
It is a constant battle with Ms. Queenie and I really don't know why we put up with her. Maybe every family has their one child who likes to push the boundaries, ours just happens to be a cat..
