If you turn you back on a Beagle

I haven't written a post about our little Beagle in awhile, I guess sorta got distracted with the 'Family' part of my header. Since Archie is the reason I started blogging I should share what I've learned in the past year and a half on what's it's like to own a Beagle.

If you turn your back on a Beagle, he will eat the cherry pits your son spit in the yard, then realize how tasty seeds can be and raid your cabinets where you store your unpopped popcorn bags, then eat them.

If you turn your back on a Beagle, he will invade your closet and chew all your favorite slippers and shoes.

If you turn your back on a Beagle, he will sniff out his Christmas present under the tree, carry it down stairs to the outside and see what he got, before Christmas day. He will have so much fun tearing the paper off his present he won't want to stop and will continue to tear anything that has to do with paper. To name  a few, the newspaper, bills, toilet paper, lesson plans, magazines, paper towels and feminine pads,  especially the feminine pads, they have wrapping and stuffing.

If you turn your back on a Beagle he will rip the stuffing out of his bed. He will have so much fun he'll want to rip the stuffing out of all the dogs beds, but he won't stop there, he'll rip the stuffing out of any toy that may have stuffing in it. Once the stuffing is out of his toy, he'll want to eat the fabric of the toy. Pretty soon there won't be any toy. Later you can find parts of the toy in his poo.

If you turn your back on a Beagle, he will eat the raspberries you are trying to pick, help you dig holes in the garden, want to chew your leather gloves while you are gardening and carry off any tool you leave laying around. He'll also remind you when the poo needs to get picked up by bringing it in the house. When you go to pick up the poo, he'll be so excited you're in the back yard with him he'll start eating it.

If you turn your back on a Beagle while cleaning the kitchen you will find him in your dishwasher licking the dishes or under the sink cabinet spilling the cleaners on the floor. He'll try to help wipe up what ever mess he makes with your dish towel, or maybe he just wants to eat your dish towel. Remember though, never turn your back on a Beagle when the refrigerator door is open.

But if you happen upon a Beagle when he's sleeping you might find him snuggled with his best friend or notice how cute he is and want to stroke his soft ears and kiss his little cheeks, but you won't kiss his cheeks or get anywhere near his cheeks because you'll remember he's a poop eater.
If you happen to have a Beagle that's totally blind and has a disease called Polyarthropathy you'll miss his crazy antics when he's not feeling well and you'll wish he'll hurry and get better so he can get back to doing what he does best......Being naughty.

Luckily with good medication the Beagle always returns to his old self, so it's a good idea to have a camera handy.....If you happen to turn your back.

He's quite the rambunctious puppy! He's adorable though.

so many of those situations ring true with our beagle boy. oh, he's such a bad boy and such a baby. he is growing up and starting to get more mature, though. he has had a stuffed toy since christmas and it is, surprisingly, still stuffed! squeaker intact, even! i don't think he'll ever control himself when it involves food, though.

i love archie's coloring! so pretty.

I was spending the first half of this post thanking my lucky stars that we are not dog owners... and the last bit of the post thinking what rotten luck it is that we're so allergic because the angelic sleeping shot kinda makes up for the poo eating... kinda...

ha hahahaha!! This was awesome. We used to have a beagle and I always tell people that "Ozzy" (my brother named him after Ozzy Osborne) was well named because he was most definitely a reincarnate of satan.
He was naughty just like yours but he was also mean. My parents finally had to give him away.

Super cute post!

He sure is cute. Even if he might be a little brain damaged.

Ahhh, poor Archie! I guess you can't get mad at an adorable disabled doggie. But, I'll take into consideration the 100 reasons not to turn your back on a beagle, and make sure I never get one! :) One deaf Schnauzer is enough for me!

Oh my! We need to remember to never get Archie together with Rex, our Westie. Pure chaos. Cute chaos though!

Hi! Thanks for stopping by my blog!

Your Archie is a cute little guy. I have a 95 lb. yellow lab who used to get into mischief like Archie, but he has recently turned 3 years old and his antics have slowed down a bit. I have never heard of the disease that poor Archie is plagued with. It seems you have it under control with his medication.

A sleeping dog is as cute as a sleeping baby! lol

That is a darn cute post. I'll have to share it with my neighbor who owns a beagle too. She'll get a good laugh out of it, I'm sure.

we had a beagle once....we turned our back on him and he chewed the wood on our deck, the stuffing in our nice comfy deck chairs and pulled some of the siding and outside air vent covers off the house.

We don't have a beagle anymore. :-)
