A Memorable May

It's been an aMAYzing month, kinda hard to believe it's over, yet again looking back I can see why.

It began with a road trip to Vancouver to visit our son and daughter- in- law. It hadn't even been a month since we last saw them but hey, with a three hour road trip between us it makes it easy for the parents to drop in.

After touring their new home, they treated us to a beautiful walk around Lacamas Lake Regional Park.

Our grand puppy was dog tired after our walk about that he hit the pavement as soon as we got back to the car.
Then came the funeral for a close family friend who was my sisters father in law. He was a respected Admiral in the Navy who was given a well deserved top notch farewell.

Next to the 21 gun salute and taps, the missing man formation was incredible.
It literally brought tears to my eyes.

Then there was Mother's Day.

Since I was in town, my old hometown that is, it only made sense to stick around and hang out with my parents
and give my mom some daughter time.
My oldest brother came for the weekend as well. He doesn't care much for driving and dealing with traffic so he flew in with his plane.
Having the funeral and mother's day in the same weekend made it nice to be with family and friends I haven't seen for a while.
Four days after I returned home the girls I work with threw a retirement girls weekend at one of their cabins.
Oh my gosh these girls were something else. Not only are they outstanding educators but boy do they know how to let their hair down and have fun.

There's this code where what happens at the cabin, stays at the cabin so I'm gonna leave it at that and move on to Memorial Day weekend.

The husband and I loaded the horses, cat and dog and took the camp trailer deep into the woods where there wasn't any cell service, wifi or trailer hookups.
Not only did we survive, but we thrived.
There was hiking,
 Horse riding,

 dog walking,

 trail trimming
and chatting it up with fellow campers to be distracted by phones and social media not to mention the beautiful scenery. I couldn't get enough of it.
Oh, and if you're wondering who the retirement weekend was for, after 23 years working with developmentally delayed preschoolers I decided to hang up my hat. The beautiful lady next to me is retiring also.
Well that wraps up May.

Had anyone decided to come to Washington for a visit I'm sorry we weren't home to greet you, but apparently I left the key in the door so you would have been more than welcome to come in and make yourself at home.

OMG, you left the key in the door and it was still there when you got back home.... Girl, you're too funny... or trusty, lol...

Congratulations on your retirement. I'm sure you had a lot of fun, I would have loved to be there. I can sure let my hair down too when the time is right. , lol.

As a matter of fact, my hair has gotten rather long since the flood began in April. I need a haircut real bad. I've ben insanely busy. I'm still waiting for my retirement, sigh... I hope it comes soon.

Is your family from Vancouver? That's the impression I got.

Thanks so much for your sweet comment on my blog. I'm sure you would bring have a crew to help. I'm slowly getting there.

Wow, June already tomorrow, I can't believe it. Enjoy your retirement. I'm sure you deserve it.
Hugs, Julia

Hi Saimi!

You retired!! I'm pretty sure you will be missed by all the gals you worked with...but most of all the children and their families. I can only imagine what an amazing teacher you are!

Your trip sounds wonderful, and your camping trip makes me so envious...but happy. Your photos are gorgeous! Just think of all the fun things you can do now that you are retired!

Happy Week-end, Saimi!

Hugs and Love,
Barb
