As computers go they are extremely helpful, very knowledgable as well as hard to live without.
It's true we have become so accustomed and dependent on the cyber brain that when they fail to give us what we want when we want it, they become a major frustration.
Take for instance last Saturday night, my laptop was in perfect working order without any hiccups of any kind. Had I chose to work on my Sunday school lesson for the 4 year old Primary class I teach, my computer would have willingly obliged.
Because I was being distracted by Veronica Mars, the latest binge show the husband and I are watching I failed to work on my lesson.
Come Sunday morning I woke up early enough to finish the lesson I never started and to my surprise, my laptop was not working.
Yep, I couldn't open a single thing so I figured it was our internet but it didn't stop the panic from setting in.
As precious time was ticking away, I went with plan B and completed the lesson the old fashion way by cutting and pasting. Skills I acquired from the 23 years of working in a preschool.
Thank heavens for muscle memory.
When I mentioned to the husband about the internet being down he said his computer was working fine.
To add insult to injury, it wasn't just my computer but my phone as well. The iPhone and Mac are synced together so if one is on the blink, apparently so is the other.
Monday I called a Apple guy who is an expert in the field of problems such as mine. We scheduled an appointment for the following day for him to come out and see what was going on with my media.
In the meantime I took my laptop down to a computer store and told them of my woes. The guy was so friendly and helpful. The first thing he did was log on to their internet and BAM my computer was back to it's normal self.
He assured me there was nothing wrong with either my phone or my Mac and suggested I unplug the internet monitor thing in our house wait a few minutes then plug it back in.
Guess what? It worked.
A good swift reboot was all it needed and apparently what I needed as well.
Let's just say lesson learned, no more waiting till the last minute.

I had the same type problem and when I called our internet guy, this was a couple of years ago, he said did you reboot the modem? I said no, I did not know I could or should. he said all computers need rebooting, which I knew, and the modem is a computer. who knew. so glad it was an easy fix and you were able to use your brain and not the computer.. my first computer was bought for me in 1995, by my Dad, a Baptist minister. He bought it for me to do my lessons for my adult Sunday School class. for years I taught an Overcomers SS class for people with addictions or abuse.
Oh vey - we have had the computer problems - so I am glad yours was easy!
I'm SO GLAD he was able to figure it out, AND SO DARN FAST!! Bet you were so happy. I hate computer glitches and tech stuff. So glad my hubby is so good at figuring it all out. What have you been up to lately?
Oh my gosh-who would've thought to do that?? I'm so happy the problem wasn't anything worse.
A hiccup with any of my electronics anymore sends me into a panic. How did this happen? I swore a few years ago I would NEVER have a smart phone. Now I can't imagine life without it.
The scariest of all of course would be the 4 years olds. Not having a lesson prepared is the scariest!
