With gratitude

I have much to be grateful for. Yesterday I received a gift from my blogging friend Connie   http://shadycreekdesigns.blogspot.com/. I actually won a prize from a contest she hosted. Yeah me, I'm still in shock but the real shocker came when she said I could pick out any vinyl design I wanted. As I was combing through her crafty blog I not only came across the vinyl design but some really cute Boo Blocks she made for Halloween. Bless her dear heart, she sent me both the festive blocks as well as the vinyl design.
Just look at these cute blocks. That Connie is one talented crafter! Thank you Connie!!

Today marks the one year anniversary our missionary left for Mexico. It warms my heart to know he is diligently serving the Lord and the people of Oaxaca.  I am grateful for his words, "True happiness comes from God and obeying his commandments. Obedience = Happiness."
Today also marks the one year anniversary my leg got tangled up with my horses hoof. I went through a  painful infection, two surgeries, a Wound V.A.C., physical therapy and two months of recovery. It's not pretty by any means, there's an indentation that will always be there and a scar to show for it but I have full use of my leg and for this I am grateful.
After surgery

A year later

Then there's the neighbor, yes the neighbor. The one that shares joint custody of our dog. Actually she's their dog now and I have become the neighbor who give her a 'cookie' when she comes down to visit. Well these neighbors of ours gave me a present the other day.
Isn't it a lovely present? It's not my birthday, or our anniversary nor any other special occasion, they gave it to me because they know what I love.
Now tell me, how can I not be grateful.

What a great celebration of good things!

Of course, the local stores always seem to be advertising those pretzel M&M's, but also always OUT OF STOCK. So I'm still a pretzel M&M virgin, go figure.

I am blown away by your horsie injury... and glad you are healed up! Sure makes you appreciate the beauty and value of a good horse, no? (When the injuries could be so much worse if they meant to? right?)

Have a great day!

So glad you like the blocks.

Your missionary is so handsome and what a blessing it is for you to have him serving the Lord. I'll bet the countdown starts for his return, one year sounds so much shorter than 2 whole years.

Oh goodness, your leg is scary. I am so glad it turned out alright.

Your neighbor must reaaallllly love you to give you that bag of M&M's, you lucky girl. Enjoy!

I too am a proud owner of a set of blocks Connie's daughter Maria made and sent me. Yes.. they are wonderful crafters!

Wow.. you've been through a lot with your leg. The after really looks good! My dad had a toe amputation with a wound vac that he used for about 2 1/2 months. He wore that things 24/7 but was able to walk and carry it around with him like a should bag. What a great thing they are. I was told by his nurses that those vac's cut healing time down to a 1/3. Glad everything worked out in the end and you have full use of your leg.

Oh.. I'm bet'n your so proud of your missionary. God bless him!

PS.. even the neighbors know about your obsession aye? (wink)

OM Goodness!!!! SO much going on to be grateful for, for sure!!!! LOVE all the BOO!!! stuff, LOVE the picture of your son (so proud, I know), and the leg ... ouch! But it looks like it's healing well (goodness - that's quite an ordeal there, huh?) The M&M's actually made my heart beat faster (there's something wrong with that, for sure!) Have a wonderful day, friend!

You got the leg thing last year the same day your son went out on his mission? Boy, what an impression that made-- I'm happy you have two big successes there. so did you write about how this happened?

And your poor leg! It definitely looks much better than it did a year ago.

Deila I actually started posting about my leg when the infection started in Nov of last year.

The accident was simply that, after we talked to our missionary as he was leaving the airport for Mexico my husband and I went riding. My horse stepped on something that caved in and as I was dismounting her she was scrabbling to get up thus her hoof getting tangled with my leg.

We thought she stepped on my knee but that wasn't the case. After the swelling went down we saw it was the thigh that was affected.
