My truck

Dear Truck,

Despite my apprehension and doubt of having another vehicle, I want to thank you for coming into my life. I'm sure you knew how intimidated I was when you first arrived. You were so big and wide with your dual tires and your long bed. I couldn't imagine how on earth I was ever going to drive you especially with the horse trailer attached, yet some how you were patient with me. You knew I could only go forward, that backing up was out of the question. You didn't laugh when I parked you in a tight spot and needed someone to back you for me, horse trailer and all.

I liked your plainness and humility. You didn't have all the frills and thrills, nothing electronic to confuse me. Just a good old fashion basic truck designed to haul. You were perfect. What a great team we made. I even learned how to hitch you to the trailer (all by myself) and with your patience we hauled the horses together. Me at the wheel and you doing the work.

Soon you became more than just a truck pulling a horse trailer. You started hauling hay, you helped college boy move, you let others use you to carry their motorcycles, you became a third wheel, in a good way.
You were always there ready to lend your services whenever someone needed a vehicle to drive.

I appreciated everything about you, which brings me to say how sorry I am that I wasn't there when you were T-boned, hit, smashed, by some lady who failed to stop at a stop light. You tried your best to swerve out of the way when she kept coming.... straight for you. I guess instinctively you thought it best to take the punch in your wide hips where you had both tires to soften the blow.

Apparently you did a number on the crazy ladies car..... serves her right, but then anything that takes a face plant into your dualies is going to be a goner. I mean what was she thinking anyway? Was she too busy texting? Was she looking for something? Who knows.

I am happy knowing both her and your driver were not hurt but still it shouldn't have happened, you shouldn't be in this condition.

Although you're tough, I'm sorry I wasn't there when the tow truck came and took you away. It must have been sad being hooked up and not knowing if you're ever going to come home again. At least the insurance adjuster says you have a chance, you still might be the truck you once were.

I think of you every time I see the horse trailer sitting alone

but I'm hopeful you will be back soon. Here's to you, and wishing you a speedy recovery..

Funny and sad! Know how it is to be attached to a car. Glad everybody was okay.

LOL that was sweet. I'm glad I'm not the only one who talks and gives a name to a vehicle! I hope your big guy will be ok. ;D

What a great post - but I am so sorry to read about the accident! Glad to know that no one was hurt. I love your attachment to Truck. I had the same attachment to the first car I bought after I graduated from college. I named her "Sylvia".

Bad crazy lady! Poor truck.. I hope it's getting the spa treatment. Seriously glad no one was injured. Thank goodness it wasn't hauling horses.

Poor trucky.

So glad your truck wasn't a fatality (and that no one was hurt). With some reconstructive surgery it will be better than new. Great that you admit to having a personal relationship with your vehicle, it tells me you are very compassionate, and funny too.

Oh my gosh!!!
I am just sooo glad no people were hurt, but I'm very sorry your truck hurts! I hope he gets fixed quickly and can bring you many more good memories and great times!

I sure hope that lady wasn't texting. I am so anti-texting-and-driving. I will look at my phone, I'll talk on my phone, but I will NOT text and drive! :)

oh I'm so sure I'd never be able to drive that truck/trailer combo -

and also glad that no humans were maimed in the encounter - and it sounds like your truck has a much better chance at recovery than the other vehicle!!!

Sorry to hear about that. I know how you feel. A few weeks ago my husband got in an accident with our truck. Everyone was fine, but the truck is STILL getting fixed. Hope yours gets fixed :)

Oh my goodness! That is horrible! Such a beautiful body reduced to "OUCH" in a matter of seconds.

Hopefully the restoration will be awesome.

It's a good thing that truck didn't belong to me or it wouldn't have made it until accident time. I would have somehow wrapped it around a pole because it's so big! I'm glad it can make a recovery and hopefully it will be pulling your horse trailer again soon. Thanks for your comments on my blog and best of luck to truck.

hugs and kisses to your truck! Us at the Fromage place are pretty attached to our truck (ok, and the car, too) as well.

Oh, I am so sorry! :) So glad no one was hurt. I hate to say I've been in a car accident or two in my life and didn't know if it was safe to come home, either! :)

So sorry! I'd like to send your truck some flowers. Is he allergic to them?

Dear Truck,

I did not know you but your story is one of heros. I will keep you in my prayer.

P.S.

Dont talk to the other in-pound trucks. they are all bad influences.

ah yes, the very personal relationship between owner of vehicle and said vehicle.
I will pray for trucky's complete recovery. (tee, hee)
We have a big truck as well and I HAVE NOT driven it in the year and a half I have been with hubby. He keeps telling me I need to learn how to drive it with the horse trailer on it............YIKES, impossible for me I feel. Our horse trailer is huge with sleeping compartment and the whole deal.
sorry...if horses are sick and I am home alone and they need a vet............heaven HELP ME.

Eeek! If you weren't driving, I'm wondering who was... Anyway, sounds like everyone is ok including the truck... what a great ending to a sad story.

Hi!

Thanks for popping over to visit me, I love to meet new people! Your poor truck! Glad to hear that everyone was okay. We have a truck too, she is treated with kid gloves... :0)

My husband was a rodeo guy too - he rode bare back. He also trained horses up until about 15 years ago, when he developed a bad allergy to them, it was so sad! Looks like you have fun with yours, I sure miss those days!

Come back and visit anytime!
