It wasn't a Brooklyn Road but Neil got me home.

It's no secret, and I'm lucky the husband isn't a jealous one, that Neil Diamond and I have a thing.

The thing being, when that man sings he pierces my soul with his smooth rich voice. It doesn't matter that he never had any musical training, his music tells a story with truth and sincerity and he has me hook, line and sinker.

Neil and I get together when I'm sewing, cleaning and mostly, driving long distances.

He's the only one that can make me sing, really sing, like top of my lungs, belt it out sing so it's best no one is around when we are together.
I believe our relationship started when I was a teenager.

Now as teenagers go they have plenty of crushes. Mine consisted of, and I'll just name a few, William Shatner as James T. Kirk.
The galaxy hero of all time with his 5 year mission to explore boldly where no man has gone before.

Then there was Robert Conrad in the Wild, Wild, West. Oh my gosh like 007 in a western riding a black horse.
It would be plain wrong not to mention Michael Landon as Little Joe in Bonanza.
Yeah, they had my heart but Neil has stuck with me through the ages and I'll pretty much go to the grave with his songs embedded in my soul.
To be fair, Neil also did a bit of acting in The Jazz Singer.
The man has skills and to say the least, I was a bit envious of Lucy Arnaz haha.

So it didn't surprise the husband when I talked to him on my way home from Idaho that I was listening to my man Neil.

At least he knew I'd get home safely as who can fall asleep driving when your rocking to Neil Diamond?

Certainly not me.

I have his triple disk collection 'In My Lifetime', in my car. It's his songs from the beginning of his career to the present which is kinda ironic since I've been listening to him pretty much my whole lifetime.
I was very fortunate to have attended his last touring concert with my sister, courtesy of my husband, last June.
It wasn't my first concert of his but it was my last due to his recent diagnosis of Parkinson's disease.

He hung up his touring hat but he will always be forever in blue jeans and forever in my heart.

Saimi...don't be hogging up our man. LOL. everyone in my family loves Neil Diamond. I absolutely love that old movie, The Jazz Singer. My sisters and I went to two live concerts , many years ago. You know when....when Neil wore those smooth black pants and his shirts had sparkly threads running thru them. Oh yes. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

Neil Diamond became my fame boyfriend when I saw him in the Jazz singer. I was in Middle school. I still have some of his songs in my music playlist on my phone.

Love this post! Great pictures and love those fun and colorful concert t-shirts, you will treasure that forever!! I love any posts about the "good old days" of music and movies and tv! I watched and loved the shows you mentioned. lOVED THEM ALL. I sure liked the pictures on the previous post too of Yellowstone. I've never been there so love to see the pictures. Those geysers and hot springs are wild!!---and so mysterious! So glad you got to go. What other concerts did you go to "back in the day"? I was a big concert go=er, and went to alot. Things were different back then. a whole other world.

Hi Saime~

I love it!! Neil Diamond is amazing, yes he is! The Jazz Singer is one of my all time favorite movies, and yes, his voice...like velvet!!

I have to say though, James Taylor has been my boy since I was a teenager...love him then and love him now. I have seen him in concert and he is so wonderful. I have every song on CD that he ever sang plus some. I also enjoy listening to his son, Ben.

Isn't it fun to spend time with your sister?! You guys are so gorgeous! Makes me want to call mine and make a playdate! The last concert of James' that I went to I went with one of my sisters, it was a blast!

I loved Michael Landon, didn't really have a crush on him because he reminded me so much of my father, but I loved watching, Bonanza and Little House on the Prairie, I still do.

Thank you for your sweet comments on my blog. It has been a very sad week-end for me. The sweet girl who just passed left behind a little 6 year old who had autism, and is non-verbal. it just breaks my heart.

On a lighter note, General Conference certainly did cheer me up!! Looking forward to all the new changes, and looking forward to tomorrow!

Enjoy this beautiful Autumn!

Hugs and Love,
Barb

Oh my, yes. His voice, his eyes, and his butt! He looks SO good in tight jeans. LOL So did Ricky Nelson, though, and he was my early heart throb. I had a crush on Hoss rather than Little Joe. Go figure that one!! Thanks for visiting my blog today!!
