Remove pet supplies, food, litter box, beds, scratching post basically anything that would indicate you have a pet, especially the pet.
In our case that would be Miss Rosie our aging old cat. Really all she does is eat and sleep on our bed but we do have a litter box that is kept in our laundry room which requires her to use two flights of stairs.
She's not in love with having to go down the stairs to use the potty. Each time she comes back up she is yelling at us.
MEOW!, don't you know it hurts to go up these stairs! MEOW, I can't believe you make me use stairs!
MEOW, this is ridiculous!
MEOW, Where is your respect!
Every day we hear her yell but the laundry room is the only place for her litter, until we moved her out.
We took the house selling recommendation seriously and gave Rosie her own retirement home.
We moved her into our Mini Whinnie down at the farm. We make so many trips over there it makes it handy to check on her regularly. We adjust the temperature when needed by opening the windows at night and turning the air conditioning on during the day.
She loves her new accommodation and ceased yelling at us. She greets us with a soft hello, purrs when she sees us and every now and then she will go outside for a look but doesn't care to stay long.
We made it easy for her to get on and off the bed so she doesn't have to jump, her food and litter are with in reach and best of all there are no stairs to climb.
The girl is in heaven.
Farm Kitty is very curious about his new neighbor and is trying his best to be friendly.
Although Rosie girl is not quite ready to embrace a new friend
Farm Kitty won't give up. He rubs his face on hers as she growls but I think he can sense she all bark and no bite.
You never know, someday we just might see she hung a, 'Do not disturb sign' on the door.
In the event, housekeeping will have to make the rounds later.

Rosie has her own pad and is loving it. What a feline haven, lucky kitty.

So she has her own cat condo! What a great idea and I know she's happy without those stairs. Super idea
I love kitties!
You’re a good kitty mama to make such accommodations.
Good luck with all the moving. So. Much. Work!!!!
