I love the small home town country school where I work. The families come from humble means and the children are down to earth. They are polite, kind and so sweet. The preschoolers continually make me laugh with their antics, especially the things they say.
I was in the older preschool classroom talking with a little boy we had the previous year:
Me: How have you been? Hows your mom and her boyfriend?
Boy: Um, he's mad at my mom and my mom is mad at him so they're broke up...... Oh, I probably shouldn't have told you that.
Me: Do you remember being in my class?
Boy: Yeah, I like your class better than this one.
Sitting in a circle with the children we'll pass a mirror around as we sing an introductory song using everyone's first and last name. It goes as follows:
"Who's come to school today Saimi, Saimi, who's come to school today Saimi........(this is where we would sing the last name.
When asking the kids what my last name is one little guy pipped up and shouted, "Grandma!"
Another one of our boys has one pace......slow. He's our poky preschooler where I'm continually encouraging him to......'chop, chop' with the clap of my hands.
After entering the bus he was taking his time climbing onto the seat so I began to clap my hands. I asked him if he knew what that meant.
His reply: Chop, chop.
Couldn't pass the opportunity to snap a picture of this as I was leaving. Gotta love country folks.

I've done that with my car... my mom still complains about me filling the trunk of her car with sawdust from lumber mill for my horses stall. hahaha. horse and livestock people. I love them
Heehee- gotta love kids and their honesty! These made me laugh out loud as did the pic- that's like something we'd see here-
Kids can be brutally honest....and get away with it! Unfortunately as adults, we are sometimes so worry about offending someone that we tip toe around the truth. I like the kiddo version....it's real!
I love your stories!
so sweet!
My favorite part is that no only is there hay on the roof of that van, it's in a parking lot. Because they had other errands to do after they got the hay. Sooooo funny!
You sound like such an awesome teacher. I'm so thankful for those of you that love to teach.
Love the hay bales. Very resourceful.
Life can't be boring when you have those kids around to make you smile.
Thanks for sharing.

I'll bet you could write a book about your pre-school experiences. I know the little ones that I teach in primary sometimes over share but sometimes it just cracks me up. Like the time I had a little 4 year old tell me that her grandpa wasn't at church because he was visiting other worlds (that would wards, he was the stake YM pres.). I had to take a moment to compose my self with that one.
Keep the stories coming, they tickle my funny bone.
I know exactly what you mean. Elementary school life for me is so much fun because of the fun things you hear!
Haha! That picture cracks me up because we've seen all manner of hay transportation around here too! Come to think of it, I have a cell phone pic of someone transporting CALVES in their station wagon.
Too funny what kids say. My mother taught a large Sunday School program for years and it was always a crapshoot what the kids would say when asked for prayer requests! :)
Chop chop!
Oh, my goodness...I love preschoolers.
Howdy neighbor~
Thanks so much for posting on my blog.. I always enjoying meeting new blog buddies....
ha ha...yes I do love country folk, being that I am one. I can see my hubby doing something like that.
Always entertaining to hear what kids have to say that's for sure.
Haha! So funny! Love little kids! (obviously)
And there are a few people in my family who would totally put the hay on top of their van too. :)
LOL...I needed a laugh today. That mini van is a hoot.
Those are good stories, and I love the picture. Grandma's not a bad last name to have!
