Taking a break..a spring break that is, in Sunriver

We spent our second annual family togetherness in Sunriver Oregon. 

After last years successful reunion we gave it another go around but instead of revisiting the beach, we switched it up and headed closer to the mountains.

I gotta say, I'm in love with HomeAway.com. I found an amazing house tucked in the heart of Sunriver that accommodated our family perfectly. I'm so impressed with the details of the home in which the owners furnished, not to mention the surrounding area that didn't fall short of  things to do.

We kicked off our week with a sled dog ride,

Explored the High Desert Museum

 Where we saw turtles, porcupines, eagles, owls, reptiles, in all their varieties, and so much more.

I highly recommend this museum if you're ever in the area.

This statue of a horse and foal is constructed out of barbed wire.

My animal loving grandson wasn't deterred in the least and leaned 

in to give it some lovin'.

We hiked to Tumalo Falls.

 The scenery was incredible

as was our picnic lunch. 

Food always seems to taste better when it's a picnic.

Our middle son took advantage of the gorgeous 

spring weather and purchased a two day pass to ski Mt. Bachelor.
When it's only thirty minutes away, how can you not?

There was plenty of bike riding going on.
The house we rented had bikes of all shapes and sizes in the garage.

The brothers had fun on the tandem

Then of course, the more serious bikers of the family
brought their own set of wheels.

 So while the husband and his biking buddy son found trails to ride,
the rest of the group traded their wheels for hoofs and rode down a different path.

As for me, I got the better end of the deal and hung out with 
with these goofballs.

Every night ended in some competitive family
game playing

Don't let the smiles fool you,

once we started, the game faces came out. 

We took advantage of the hot tub 

and fire pit 

and the twins took advantage of the
'tree fort' 

in the downstairs bedroom 

The week came and went but the 
memories shared will be with
us forever.
