Resurrecting our dinner date

Cinco De Mayo not only landed on Taco Tuesday but fell on the first Tuesday of the month dinner date with our neighbors.

We started dining 7 years ago choosing restaurants alphabetically. We chose a restaurant beginning with the letter A and the following month they chose one which started with B.

It took two years to complete our goal and since we had so much fun dining out together we continued our monthly dates but changed it up each year.

We chose to eat by country, places, favorites, left overs, as in places we didn't originally choose, and currently new restaurants.

With COVID shutting down the town we have missed two months of dinner dates so we got creative and discovered an alternative way of eating together while keeping our distance.

We drove separately and met at Red Robin, it wasn't on our list nor is it a new establishment but it was convenient.
Once we each received our order, we ate in our perspective cars all the while chit chatting and catching up.
Since we had much to talk about and share after two months of seclusion we lingered in the parking lot long after finishing our meal.

It may not have been ideal but hey, desperate times calls for desperate measures so we made it work.

I love your creativity. I'm sure you all appreciated sharing time together even with distance. I miss my once a week breakfast with friends. We've been doing this for years and years but now with Covid-19, we haven't been to a restaurant or even take out since the lockdown.

Hugs, Julia

what a great idea! any place i can get a burger is fine with me. i saw on one of the blogs that 4 neighbors, the houses were accross the street from each other, got take out and they all put chairs at the end of the drive ways and chatted accross the street... so glad you had your chatting outing.

Wow!
I love your idea!!!
Thanks for the inspiration, my friend.
I think we will try it, as soon as it stops snowing here in Pennsylvania!
Stay safe and cozy. : )

What a fun way to have dinner together. We have a group of four couples that go to a new supper club within driving distance once a month. We suspended it for the winter and now, of course, we are quarantined. Love your idea! xo Diana
