Back in the Saddle

Can't hardly believe it, it's been way too long since I've ridden my black beauty but today was the day. The sun was shining, the sky was blue and the ground was slightly frozen, which is a good thing considering all the rain and warm weather mushing things up. Oh yes, I was going to get on my girl. After catching her, putting on her pink halter and brushing every tangle out of her mane and tail, I was ready to saddle her up. She stood perfectly still while I placed the tack on her, I'm sure she was enjoying the attention as much as I was anticipating riding her. I was busting at the seams with excitement, it's been over two months, at least 10 weeks and if we're counting days, try 65 since the accident. The therapy has been going well, and my knee is making great progress in the bending department, I was sure I could get my foot in the stirrup, which actually I did, but that's as far as I got. There was no way I could bend my leg far enough to pull myself up. Dang it! Determined, and Jaycee actually waiting for me standing so still, I had to find another way. The chair, yes the chair in the barn, I'll use the chair!! I left my horse standing untied to get the chair, she is so good, I came out of the barn and she was in the same place I had left her, didn't move an inch. I placed the chair right next to her side and climbed on. Victory!!! The joy of being on my horse felt so good, I can't even describe it. We didn't go far, just stayed in the arena and rode around and around and around, it was one of my best rides of my life, seriously.
