So back in August I decided to do a little experiment, which was to eliminate sugar from my diet. I had heard, just by dropping sugar one can loose weight rather easily. Something about sugar triggering a hormone that doesn't allow the body to burn fat as well as store it. At my age, that is one less hormone I need in my system. Within a couple of months, I actually was pleased with the weight I had lost, which was at least 10 pounds. Well ever since my surgery, and being hooked up to this Wound V.A.C. my body went into some kind of repair mode working overtime burning calories. You would think since I am less active and mostly sitting around blogging about my stupid leg, I would be gaining weight, but this is not the case. I've been eating healthy, the nurses gave me the low down on what to eat for good healthy tissue to grow, doing everything they said to do and even dipping into all the wonderful goodies that friends and family have been bringing over. The sugar thing flew out the window since the accident. I don't really get it myself, and I have lost another 7 pounds in the last week. Whether it be the V.A.C. sucking everything out of me, or my body working extra hard to heal, I'm not complaining, at least something good is coming from all of this.
