We were invited to attend a Christmas party. Not your usual festive party for this time of year, you know the kind where you get all dressed up wearing your fancy Christmas clothes, hair just right and adorned in sparkling jewelry. On top of dressing fancy you have to bring a white elephant gift for the gift exchange. I never seem to get the right gift, as my version of a white elephant gift is like a gag gift. Everyone at these type of parties usually bring some over the top present that cost more than the amount stated. No, the party we attended the other night was more up my alley. The only requirement was to wear your ugliest Christmas sweater and bring a REAL white elephant gift, this I can handle. You see, I didn't have to look far for my sweater, I have bins of ugly Christmas sweaters, sweaters I would never wear in public but are perfect for the preschool room. My shopping took place in the attic. As for Ken, he went down to the local thrift store and found, what he thought was going to win the ugly sweater prize. He was so proud of his purchase, that he took it to places where he works and received the confirmation that he, indeed, will win the prize for having the ugliest sweater.
I showed our son his dad's sweater and the first words out of his mouth was, "It looks like a sweater a guy from India would wear." I got a chuckle and shared what he said to the husband as we were getting ready. After he saw himself with the prize winning sweater on, all he could think about was looking like a convenient store owner from India. Too say the least, he didn't win, but the party was a blast!

An ugly sweater party! I love it. I would probably go buy one of those awful light up sweaters just for the occasion!
I was so sad we were going to miss it. I am hoping Mary posts pictures of the party. I hope she does it next year cause we will be there. Have a good Christmas.
