Family fun festivities

It's been a mighty busy summer with all the family gatherings. The husbands side of the family had a pretty big shin dig, but only because Grandma is turning 95 this year and requested a reunion. So what grandma wants, grandma gets, and boy she better watch out what she asks for next time she makes a request.

Not only did the family come but they came in extra large groups, 20 plus stayed at her house. The majority of those 20 were small children under the age of 13. That's right granny girl, better watch out what you ask for.
Doors open, doors close, doors open, doors close and that's just the refrigerator door and cabinets. The traffic flow was consent, in out, in out, in out. With 90 degree weather the house never had a chance to stay cool.

They had tents, a motor home and lots of air mattresses  laying around. There was a slip and slide, kiddie pool and plenty of toys to entertain the children.
Slip sliding away....

The actual reunion took place at a park and what a humdinger that turned out to be. There was family that dated back to... well, back to grandma's era. They had a genealogy table where you can trace what part of the family you belong to and a color coated name badge indicating your side of the family.

Granny thoroughly enjoyed visiting with the relations. I on the other hand, enjoyed watching the games. There was a bubble gum blowing contest, pie eating contest, gargling contest, a table where you can make your own marshmallow shooter and tons more activities for the kids and grownups alike. Since I'm more into playing I didn't do much mingling.

What's up with the forks anyway?
That's some serious gargling
Making the marshmallow shooter
Trying to blow the marshmallow or eat the shooter.
Bubbles are always a hit!

The food was out of this world. Every family member brought something yummy to eat so if I wasn't watching the games, I was eating.

It was a crazy fun time.

Wow you guys go all out. I love those Marshmallow guns but I would never shoot anyone I would just suck up marshmallows through that big straw? By the way, if that is Granny in the Pix, she LOOKS AWESOME. I did not have that nice of skin when I was 25 much less 95! What's her secret? W.C.C.

Sounds exhausting! But I agree, when the 90+ year old says jump, we say how high. My grandpa just turned 92 and the dude gets to eat whatever he wants! :)
I'm glad you had so much fun on your family reunion.

I love family reunions... and just based on your photos I think we need to do some new fun things next year (only no forks... way too civilized for my family!)

That looks like a blast! I didn't grow up with any extended family so it's been interesting to have big reunions with the in-laws.

Super awesome!

Family reunions are the best! Makes me sad that we couldn't go this year...

Glad you have had such a fun (but busy) summer!
