Trail riding

It's crazy to think a passion can turn into an obsession. Take for instance people that like to exercise, the more they do it the more they want to. I've never understood it personally. The more I exercise the more I hate it so I don't. Plain and simple. Then I've heard about how the body releases endorphins when it's been pushed to the limits, causing the body to feel somewhat of a 'high'. The only high I've felt is going to the dentist and breathing nitrous oxide. I guess if that's what it's like for those who exercise then more power to them.

The husband is an avid mountain biker. He loves his bike. He's crazy about his bike. He gets up at 3:00 in the morning to ride his bike. He won't waste a beautiful evening without riding his bike. He and his bike are one. Since we live in mountain bike country our backyard has become his mountain bike playground.Get the picture, the man loves mountain biking.

I tried to bike with him but I don't feel it like he does. It makes me hate my bike. I'm actually starting to believe I don't have any endorphins, because nothing I do is kicking in and giving me that 'high'.

Well, so maybe I don't fit in with the fit, but what I love to do is ride my horse. May sound lame to those who like to push their bodies to the brink of exhaustion just to find their 'high', but mine comes from riding. I love to feel the power of a horse. I love to smell their horsey smell. I truly believe riding a horse releases some kind of endorphin in my brain that makes me want to do it all over again the minute I've returned from a long ride. I can't get enough.
Me and my girl

I've ridden in the husbands playground and I can see why he loves it so much, there are so many trails in the canyon to explore. The husband, being the lover of mountain biking that he is, is very protective of his trails, with good reason. Horses can tear up a trail and wear it down in a hurry. Regardless, it's still a great place to ride.

Now let me tell you something else about the husband, he started horseback riding with me. HORSEBACK riding, with ME! Even with the little spare time he has had lately, he has put his bike aside and saddled up his horse. That's right, he's been taking me all around the canyon, I mean the man knows those trails like the back of his hand.

  Canyon hieroglyphics's or self portrait

It has been a total blast, not only am I doing what I love, but I'm doing it with the person I love the most.

So you see, even though the husband loves his bike....He loves me more!
Yeah baby!

That is so cute!!! You are a gorgeous couple.
It's nice that he can put his bike aside for what's most important.........smelling like a horse.
Oh, and YOU!

P.S. Where are your riding helmets??? You don't want a spooked horse that could result in a fall and cracked head! Wait, I'm not your mother, oops ,I forgot! :)

I can see why horsey riding would be a natural high. Until they kick you in the face.

NO WAY!!! Look at that beautiful scene! Is that really where you ride? Seriously - absolutely beautiful! I could see why you ride, and why he rides (even his bike!) So So lovely.

Oh ya, a girl and a horse...love. I used to have a horse when my children were small but just didn't have the time to ride like I wanted. Now that the kids are all raised I don't think I could even mount up let alone ride any distance. You sure make me want to try again.

I think that is so special, and a true sign of how much your hub's loves you. Beautiful time spent together.. can't get better than that.

My friend, Amy, told me to check out your blog. She was sure I would get a kick out of it because of your beagle.
We had a beagle named Mikey, who died unexpectedly last summer. We loved Mikey and it was hard to say goodbye.
So this summer we bought a new beagle puppy named Dash. (What were we thinking? Shouldn't one beagle experience be enough? LOL)
Anyway, I enjoyed your earlier post about Archie and always enjoy conversing with fellow beagle owners. :)
I'll check in again...

Look at you, you hot little thing on your horse! Great photo! I went to the dentist and had that high - it just makes me ornery after awhile. Ha! Still haven't ridden a horse. I'll have to put that on my bucket list!

I totally love this!!! I only ever got my husband on my horse ONCE and he never got back on again. Possibly be cause I squeezed him into a 14" saddle, but OOPS!

Great pictures - especially love the shadow!
