MOD Pizza, where everyone knows your name

Mod Pizza came to our town a few years ago, yep a few years ago, meaning the husband and I have heard great things about it, but had yet to give it a try.

Perhaps it was the location that kept us at bay, you see it neighbors Red Robin which happens to be our go to restaurant. Whenever we are thinking about eating out and don't want to give it a lot of thought, we dine at Red Robin.

Tonight was no different until we saw how packed it was, then it made all the difference. Not wanting to wait, we left.

Instead of walking back to the car, we walked across the parking lot and through the doors of Mod Pizza. This too was swarming with customers.

Must have been something about being a Friday night.

The only place you waited was in line, which seemed to move rather quickly so we joined the crowd.

Now I like this place, it's ordering a pizza Subway style. They make it for you as you customize the toppings. A little of this, more of that. It's as much as you want and they don't charge you for anything extra so you can just keep piling it on.

As the pizza's are being assembled they check little boxes on the paper the pizza sits on. They also take your name and write it down in the corner of the same paper.

This is the tricky part.  I always hesitate when it comes to my name. It's not a common one and people, with good reason, struggle with it.  Sometimes just to keep it simple I think about giving  something easier to read and pronounce but I'm sure when the name is being called, I wouldn't respond forgetting my intentions. So I pronounce my name and spell it for them as they write it down.

Over a loud crowd of chattering people I'm hearing, 'Sammy, Sumy, Saymy, then realize my pizza is done and the gal is trying to pronounce my name. She doesn't give up and continues to find the customer of the freshly made pizza.

I was trying to get to her quickly and once I reached the counter I couldn't resist and asked her if she would like to keep trying to say my name. She just laughed and asked me how to pronounce it.

It's spelled Saimi, and pronounced Sigh-me.

Next up was a second pizza, she called out Jeff. Puzzled, I turned and saw my husband at the counter. As we gathered our pizza's and headed back to the table I giggled and asked him why he gave the name Jeff.

He said he didn't.  He told her Ken but she wrote down Jeff.

And here I thought I had the difficult name.

Thank you for telling us how to pronounce your unique name!!!

"Sigh-me"...

Since I have never heard it before, and since you are talking about it, may we ask the story, behind your being named, that name?

Ha! WE just had a Mod Pizza come to our town and we love it too. And I always give them one of my kids' names, rather than having them misspelling or mispronouncing my name!

Oh and I'm with Tessa, I'd love to hear the story behind your name too!
