Ride em' cowgirl!
Whhhooa, whooa! shouts the cute little gal the college boy brought home to ride horses. Whoa! But the words had no effect on the streak of black lightening as my horse ran out of control from one end of the paddock to the other. College friend, had one hand holding the reins and the other gripping for life on the saddle horn, I was actually very impressed she didn't fall off.
When college boy brought his friend home to ride, I asked her what her level of experience was and explained our horses are young and spirited, not the average get along trail horse. She seemed undaunted and unafraid so what the heck, let's saddle up. I'm always up for a ride and having someone along that enjoys riding is always a pleasure.
I knew the best horse for my new young friend would be my black beauty. The husbands horse hasn't been out for awhile and is a little more spooky when things blow in the wind. It just so happened, it was a bit on the breezy side.
I went ahead and put the husbands saddle on my horse because it has the saddle horn and is more secure than the English saddle I ride with, which at the time, I had no idea how handy that saddle horn would be.
College friend mounted Jaycee so we could adjust the stirrups to her length. Just as she sat in the saddle, my horse immediately became nervous and excited. I suggested perhaps we should ride in the paddock for awhile so the horse could get used to carrying a different rider as well as having a different saddle on her.
Once inside the paddock, I held the reins so college friend could mount the horse, then I walked beside her for a minute. Everything seemed ok, so I mounted the husbands horse and as soon as I turned around, Jaycee bolted out of control and darted from one end of the paddock to the other. The poor girl was holding on for dear life with absolutely no control of the horse what so ever.
Whoa, she kept shouting, but Jaycee just ran faster. She would get to the fence turn around and run at top speed to the other side, turn around and run back. She reminded me of a rodeo queen. Ever see a rodeo where the queen salutes the crowd as her horse runs full speed around the arena?
I dismounted the husbands horse and approached Jaycee before she could bolt again, grabbed the reins and had college friend get off. Jaycee was breathing hard and the poor girl was a little shaken up but not too bad. I got on my horse to calm her down and walk her out and that little stinker was perfect. She acted like nothing had happened. I had college friend get on her again and gave her a few riding tips ( things I thought she already knew) But each horse is different, especially my wild mare who took advantage of having somebody new on her.
Things finally calmed down but I thought it best we stay in the paddock. I suppose I can laugh about it now, but I tell ya, things could have been much worse if that little cowgirl fell off. I'm definitely gonna have to ask for a resume next time and check for rodeo experience before letting anyone ride my horse.

Well it seems like high time Auntie Tacie comes to show little miss Black Beauty a thing or two. She wants to race around, let's get it on!! :) He, he! Can't wait to see you! Hugs!
The first (and last) time I ever rode a horse, the horse took off on a gallop and the reins flew out of my hands. It was scary.
Remind me not to ride your horse. ;)
Oh scary! So, when I come to ride horses, I need one that's REALLY old so they have no desire to run away with me.
