Early Retirement

This came as a surprise for us, kinda bittersweet but also sad. I mean, it's hard giving up work when you've been doing it your whole life, especially at such a young age. Even though it's just been a year since he's been working with the husband, he loved getting up early and always made sure he had the necessary tools to keep him busy during the day, such as a chew toy or rawhide bone. He even had his own special spot in the truck where he would stay while they drove around to various job sites. You see, Archie was his dad's work companion and on the rare occasion when it wasn't possible for him to accompany his partner to work, he was surely missed. All of his dads clients would ask, "Where's Archie today?" Unfortunately, Archie is going on disability due to his failing eye sight. Just the other day, he was following his dad around checking on work things, when the Beagle in him started to wander and, not realizing where he was, he fell off a loading dock landing on his back. The height of a loading dock is comparative to a kitchen counter, if not higher. Luckily he wasn't hurt, although it did take the wind out of his sails and he stayed in his bed the rest of the day.

To say the least, Archie's career as an electrician is over and he is officially retired. It wasn't an easy decision to make, but for the safety of this little blind pup the husband had to let him go.

Oh no! Poor Archie.

How do you take care of a blind dog? I mean... I guess he will learn how to find his way around, but that seems like it will be pretty tough.

Poor sweet Archie!!!! He will have to find other things to occupy his time. Put your shoes up high or you will be wearing mix matched shoes. We had a dog that went blind but she had memorized the floor plan and you would have never known she couldn't see.
