Wild Thing

There's just something about this young mare that has captured my heart, maybe it's that spunk she has when she wants to show me what a wild untamed horse she thinks she is. Every time I go to catch her she has to run at top speed around the pasture like a streak of black lightening, holding her head high, kicking up her heels, and farting all at the same time. Yes indeed this is a very wild horse. I'll take a few steps towards her and she'll give me the snort then take off again in the other direction, digging her hoofs into the earth and flexing her muscles once again demonstrating how strong and in control she is. So I just stand and enjoy the show smiling to myself in awe of my beautiful black horse. Once she has proven herself as a wild and free mare, she'll let me put on her pretty pink halter.

She really enjoys the attention of being brushed and fussed over, if I stop to talk to someone or go into the barn for whatever reason, she'll start to paw the ground as if saying, "Hey, I'm over here remember!" It's been said that music calms the savage beast. What calms mine is, when I take the softest brush and stroke her face, she can't help herself but lower her head, rest it against my chest and close her eyes. She's really not the wild mare she thinks she is, but a sweet gentle horse with a touch of spice.

In some ways, I feel we are kindred spirits. Both like to think we are wild and untamable, slightly sassy, and want to be in control, but actually, all it takes is a little love and affection and only then, is our true nature revealed.

She is a beautiful horse to match her beautiful owner.

I've got a thing for slightly sassy, untamable girls, too.

A horse that is just right for mother.
