Although he was a single parent, he never once talked ill of my mother and showed her the same respect I saw him give others. He worked full time but always made sure he was involved and supported our activities.
He taught us the value of hard work, there was never a morning where we woke up and didn't see our name on the chore list. Garden to weed (we're not talking about a small garden here either Ha!) I still have nightmares about weeding that chuck of land!! We had animals to tend to, hay to haul, fences to build, and get this, rocks to pick up. Yeah, rocks in the pasture who picks up rocks in the pasture anyway? I could go on with the chore list but it's endless. Let me just add one more thing, if we had a friend spend the night, their name was on the board as well, no joke!
After being divorced longer than being married, my dad and mom are reunited, remarried and living happily ever after.
Happy Birthday Dad, I love you!!!
