Hair today, gone tomorrow

The much anticipated hair appointment was here, one I don't miss for anything. I book them months in advance and if I happen to miss one for any reason, I'm out of luck until the next go around, another 6 weeks. I love hair day. I get my color back, do re done and brows waxed.

I walked into the salon with laptop in hand. Not so I can blog while I wait, but to show the gal how I wanted my hair. Who makes prints anymore? All my pictures are on my computer.

I was ready to go short again and wanted to show her how I've had it in the past. So I entered the salon and it's not the regular girl I see, but a new guy. He must have read my 'deer in headlight' look as he introduces himself. He professionally explained he's filling in for my gal because she wasn't feeling well. Ok, fine but why does she have to be sick on the day I'm changing my hair style?

I hemmed and hawed for a bit and told him I was there for the full meal deal and asked if he knew how to foil and wax. He assured me he does it all.

Weighing my options, which I didn't have many. I either A, trust in the new guy or B, wait another 6 weeks.
I couldn't wait another 6 weeks so I went for it.

I showed him what I wanted while explaining in great detail how it should be done. He seemed a bit nervous but was confident he could do the job.

There was already a lady being helped but while she was processing, the new guy applied my color and foils. Then as I sat processing he finished her up.

Another lady comes in for a trim, so he attends her while I'm still processing. Time is ticking and I had places to go and people to see but I don't want to hurry him either.

Finally he washes my hair and I assume he's going to start cutting it but as he examines the color he says he wants to, "Pop in some glaze" What ever does 'pop in some glaze' mean? My gal never 'popped in glaze'.

Apparently as I was processing through everybody's haircuts, I think I processed too long and my color turned out lighter than expected. The glaze was supposed to tone it down.

He takes out the processing brush and starts adding the glaze. So I sit some more.  In walks another lady, he washes and trims her up while I'm glazing.

Have I mentioned the time? Tick, tick, tick, my morning appointment is well into the afternoon by this point.

He finishes up with the other lady and rinses out my glaze. I'm ready for the cut. Slow and methodically he cuts making sure he is very careful about what he is doing. I can go with that, as I've pretty much given up on the places I needed to go and the people I needed to see. I resigned myself as a hostage and was pretty sure I wasn't getting out of there, ever.

As he was drying my hair I'm noticing the color turned out way lighter than I wanted and what ever the glaze was suppose to do, didn't seem to work. Regardless, I'm beyond caring. He styled, sprayed and spritzed and kept patting my hair here all the while saying, "Beautiful, I love it"
I don't know who he was trying to convince, himself or me.

What I would love is to leave so I agreed with him told him he did a great job then high tailed it out of there.

Here it is folks what I wanted and what I got.
My brother and I. My short hair in the past, the look I was going for.

The look I ended up with,  not quite what I had in mind..

As for the eyebrows, it didn't happen.

I think you are super cute with both!

I'm also the person who leaves the salon without telling someone if I'm unhappy. But I learned my lesson after someone repeated back to my haircutter (a week later!) that I'd cried and said I didn't want to look like Florence Henderson.

The girl MADE ME COME BACK IN and fixed it.

I hope the word can somehow get back to Mr. Glaze and maybe you are due a refund?

(Heck, what do I know? My grey has been showing for months :)

Anyway - you look great!

And about our last blog post?

It snapped THE OTHER WAY.

Of course.

No consequence except for laughing at Mommy screaming.

Oh Saimi, you're beautiful no matter what! If I look half as good as you do when I'm 35, I will be a happy camper!:)

Caught between a rock and a hard place...not very fun. You were a much better sport than I would have been.
I think you look adorable either way, you just ended up 'brighter'{sarcasim here} than you expected.

Honestly, it looks great so NO WORRIES. The great thing about hair (if there is a great thing) is it will all be back in a few months and you can go at it again if you want to. But again, I think it is pretty similar to the old style but he was just trying to go a little more 'uptown' with the fall of the bangs. I bet your horses will be jealous when they see you now! Take Care. W.C.C.

Ugh - the dreaded hairdresser. You are familiar with my bad experience when I had to explain to people I was straight, despite the do. And the breakup with my hairdresser was nasty. It does put you in a really awkward position when you have to tell them you aren't happy with their service. I will commiserate. It IS pretty hard for you to look bad, though! ;)

I have to agree with the other ladies.. it does look very cute BOTH ways. If in a day or two your still not happy, go back to your regular stylist and see if she can get the coloring the way you really want it. Still though, the cut is super cute, and I think you look great.

i had a haircut turn out all wrong once, too, and i did the same thing - left nodding and secretly wanting to die. i called my cousin, who worked in that same salon (and who should have done my hair in the first place) and she had me sneak in while the other girl was on her lunch break and she fixed it! ha ha.
i think your new do actually looks pretty good, but i can see that it is far from what you wanted. i really like the accidental color, though. it's really warm and pretty.

Awe it looks good!! Blonds ALWAYS have more fun baby! :)

Yeah I had this experience with a new lady once. She said because my hair is so dry and coarse, she was going to use color instead of bleach to highlight my hair. BAD IDEA!!!! totally turned out brassy and yucky. Ugh. Nasty. I was so angry. But anyway, that was years ago. Now my roots are so grown out, I'm mousy light brown on top and streaky blond on the bottom.

It's cute, but definitely different. You are brave. I would not have gone through with it.

Bummer it wasn't what you wanted, but it is great! I love getting my hair done, but hate the dread that comes with every appointment, wondering if they'll screw it up...

I think it looks absolutely lovely, but I totally understand the whole not getting what you wanted thing. I'm really bad with my hair and do consider it quite a treat when I finally get to sit in the chair of the trusted technician. I laughed when you said, "my girl never popped in glaze!!!" That would totally be something I would say!!! So funny. Sorry they brows didn't get done - that would erk me so!!!

I personally hate getting my hair cut. I would have walked out in the middle of it. I think he would have gotten the hint without you having to say anything. I do like the cut on you and you are a woman who can pull off any look!

Don't I have the most beautiful mother? I submit yes! Sorry ladies...

The new 'do looks adorable! Really! Although I sympathize and can relate to what you went through. I switch "stylists" about a year ago, and the first time the new gal colored my brown hair, it came out jet black -- so she started all over again! I sat there for 3 1/2 hours and thought all my hair was going to fall out. The things we do to be beautiful!

Thanks for all your kind comments everyone! Even though I feel as if I could light up a pumpkin by inserting my head you have made me feel a lot better about looking like a jack O lantern! HA!

You guys are great!!

I was expecting a repeat of Krista's Butch-cut... but you look cute :) It will grow quickly into exactly what you were wanting right????

I'm in desperate need of ANOTHER hair-cut... or I need to just go ahead and grow it out and start wearing ponytails every day again.

You look great! And I'm also surprised you didn't rip the new guy to shreds. You're my Go-To "give them a piece of my mind" girl. Cuz I'm too chicken.

Sista! You showed much patience sitting through all that 'processing'!! You know how I am with haircuts. . . never seem to turn out the way I want, and then I'm in tears! That's why I only get one haircut a year, way too stressful! (Unless I have Jordan overseeing every snip! Ha) The cut is cute though, you look adorable as always!

I think you & your hair are adorable in both styles & colors! Seriously. You do not look like you can light up a pumpkin...at least not a large pumpkin. Kidding!!

Also, thanks for stopping by LOL & leaving such a nice comment!
