After aborting the Creature, I needed to go into surgery to have it's dead skin removed as well as a flushing and cleaning. I don't want any trace or hint that, that thing was ever inside me.
So like all surgery's go, they include an IV. Yes, they stick your veins with a needle, tape it securely to your skin and administer fluids and drugs through the needle into the vein. I am covered with great veins, they flow through my arms like little streams. Hooking up to an IV shouldn't be any problem...Right?? The first attempt was in my right hand. Oh the vein was ripe and ready, but for some reason the nurse managed to break the wall and had to remove the needle. Attempt number two. The anesthesiologist tried in my left hand, again the vein was right there. Let me tell you a little secret, even though I have great veins, they wiggle around and don't like to be poked. I'm sure this is why they are having problems. You see, the anesthesiologist failed as well. I tried to tell them their best bet lies with the big vein at the elbow. But there is some IV rule where they have to start low and work their way up. If they start high and miss, they can't move down. Whatever..They used my elbow vein and the IV went straight in without any problems, I'm good to go! Saturdays surgery went really well, they removed the dead skin and cleaned out the wound. Well, Monday rolls around and they want to do another cleaning. It's back to the IV. Different day, different nurses. I showed them my bruised hand and mentioned it wouldn't be a good idea to go there and said the elbow is a great place to hook me up. She agreed but wanted to try the vein in my wrist. Looks pumped and ready but remember the little secret? My veins like to wiggle. She seemed confident and was sure she could get it in. Well she was wrong, she apologized and said she should have listened to me. The nurse used my elbow vein opposite of the one on Saturday..Whoa la, no problemo. Monday's surgery went just as well, but my hands and arms resemble a pin cushion.

I am slightly disappointed no picture. Weird I know. I have an arm that will not give blood and Raegan is the same. I am very firm that they start there. I will amuse them sometimes just to prove I am right. Glad all is getting better.
Wiggling veins, huh? I've never heard of that before. You are a medical marvel! (I've got bulging veins... never have a problem with IVs.)
